My AEG's motor has an issue.
 

Hi, today, my AEG can't shoot. When I pull the trigger, the motor makes an attempt to spin and just can't spin.

I took the motor out, connected it to my power supply @ 9V 3A, and the motor just clicks once and cannot spin. I have to use my hands and give the pinion gear a small spin for it to start, but after it starts, it spins perfectly. Once you take off the power and the motor stops, and try to connect it back on again, it doesn't spin and you have to give it a small boost to get it going again. Any idea what is wrong with the motor?

If it doesn't spin while outside of the gun means it won't spin under load. Giving assistance to spin helps you none as you can't assist it to shoot.

One would think to just get a new motor unless you have a spare oompa loompa to squeeze in beside your motor.

Well! Since there is already a topic about this I'll try my problem too. My motor does spin when I connect directly from the batteries to the motor itself. However, when I connect it through the motor wire, it does not spinning. I think that there is a problem with the wire itself. Is it true? Should I post a video to demonstrate?

Kish- it would be either the wiring(a short or broken wire somewhere), or the trigger switch contacts are burnt out! Or maybe even a blown fuse!

I tried to open it up to take a look inside, but unsuccessful. This is where I got so far. Even Ninja said this is the first time he saw this kind of gear.


P/S I forgot to mention it. After took the motor out, the small metal plate use to fit the motor is no where to found. Then I used a nut to fill it up. The nightmare begin after that. I shot a few dry round, the motor did not sound right, then it dead. Afterward, I took the motor out again, and there it is, the plate magically fall out from the mechbox. Is this the cause of my prob?

Can be.

You piston is all the way back. If you use a mini-type pack (under 1500mAh) or an empty batter pack, it won't move.

If the adjustment plate was inside you mechbox, then there is some damage.

To open your gun, punch out the pin right above your trigger (the grey pin that you can see in the pictures). Then set the selector to semi and pull the mechbox out. Every M4 mechbox works that way....

Thank you! I opened it up, and check it, the problem come from the trigger contact. The metal parts did not touch with each other. Here is a picture.

Usually it won't make any movement or sound when that is the problem.

The copper plate should slide over two contact, making the connection when the rifle is not in safe. You can bend the two tabs a little outwards to help with it.

I doubt that this is the real reason behind your issues though.

But it is. Like you said, it does not make any movement or any sound. I found out accidentally by touching the tabs with my DMM lead, when I retest with the plate, it doesn't work like before. So I did the same thing, bend the tabs outward a little bit, and it's....smoking. XD.

Means your real problem is a short somewhere. The black wire is probably touching the mechbox shell somewhere and the tappet plate (connected to the red) makes the connection.

You will have to take the mechbox appart and find the problem.
