Using Your Sights in General and With a Paintball Mask

First question

Eeyore July 26th, 2011 12:07

Its very hard to aim down iron sights with a full PB mask on. Optics on a riser work better but still leave something to be desired.

SuperCriollo July 26th, 2011 12:15

Is not that hard if you use a low profile paintball mask and I redot sight. Personally, I find it much more comfortable than using a mesh mask and goggles.

Drakker July 26th, 2011 12:18

When using a full face mask, I like to use a gun without a stock, or with a folding stock. This way you can line up the gun in front of your eyes without having to shoulder it. It is not as accurate as with a properly shouldered gun, but it's better than not using the sights at all. Anyway, if you are playing with a full face mask, you are probably playing in CQB, so long range accuracy is not much of an issue in this case.

Generally I find sights aren't that useful. Red dots and scopes even less so.

Aim down the barrel/down the gun, then watch where your BB's go and correct for that.

Aim?

ARRRRG this stinks of paintball

How bout trying to get gear that works? I run a full face mask most of the time, cost me 15 bucks .. fitted to a set of ESS Stryker Thermal Goggles..

The mask is low profile and affords a perfect cheek-weld.

When I see people running around with their stock folded .. holding the gun up to their nose.. it makes me want to trample kittens in my Jack boots,

but then I'm an elitist prick...

I also cringe when people only use their G36/AKS74U etc with the stock folded. Use the stock, you'll be a LOT more accurate!

But kittens? Geez...

lurkingknight July 26th, 2011 13:25

hey Brian which mask do you use with your strikers? I got the same goggles coming in the mail and I'm not sure which mask to pair with it.

Noob7_0 July 26th, 2011 13:35

Thanks for the input guys.
@Brian can you provide a link to the items you use? Are they paintball field legal?

I don't mean to be a wimp but I would prefer to use a stock to take some of he load of the 7lbs extension of my arms.

Cant we be nice to he kittens?

I just run an inexpensive Jt paint ball mask. Found putting a riser block under the optics helped out a lot (used madbull ras fix) I will get a better mask at some point but for now what I have works.

Haha. I hate it when I see people use their gun like a fire hose and aim with the BBs trail. =)

But seriously, I have yet to find a mask that works well with guns with low sights, like AKs. I have a thin face, so all the masks are way too large for me. I had to fold my mesh mask so much that I look like a bird while wearing it.

Anyway, my work around for this problem was quite simple, I moved to pistol only in CQB. Works with any mask and it's a lot more fun.

But I think I will start running around with my AK with its stock folded again, I hate kittens. ;)

Fold stocks...... Dont even get me started.

Remove the goggles from the mask itself and use them seperately with with a mesh face protector.

Wouldn't have any problems using any kind of sights with that set up
