Filling empty space inside a aeg?
 

Hi, i m looking to fill some empty space inside a dmr m14. I m thinking about using insulation foam, is there better option out there? Thanks

I'd be careful if you are talking about isolation foam in aerosol (Great Stuff), it's pretty much uncontrollable and once it's set, it's there to stay.

You want to fill an area to solidify or to remove the hollow sound?

I would pack it with foam sheets or news papers or the like personnally.

is that polyurethane foam? don't do that, it'll go everywhere, pop out of every hole and stick like glue.

Seriously, you could try some moldable epoxy.

You could use ZIP, it's a silicone you use to seal things, windows etc. The great thing with ZIP is that its texture is like rubber, it never becomes completly hard like plastic. Also, you can remove it all or in parts, it will stick but you can pull it off like rubber. Since it's not hard it wont thump inside your gun like a rock. It wont break your stock while expending and get into every little hole. If it does get into a hole you just take a pair of tweezers and pull it out:)

Why told you use a tube of silicone? Will add a bit of weight, will form to shape and can be removed once it has cured.

Using insulation foam is fine so long as you tape up any holes etc you don't ant it coming out of. I used it with a bunch of steel bolts for weight to fill the hollow stock of my vsr to balance it.

Yep, insulation foam, aka A-B foam works great!, but it could crack your stock if you dont tap enough holes.... (i would personally wrap the stock in Ducttape or something before injecting the stock inside to hold it in place...)

And if it cracks... you can always JBweld the cracks + sanding + paint! :)

PS: once the A-B foam is cured, it doesnt stick at all! and can be cut/carved with a knife... (just like the pink polystyrene foam)
