PDI Outer barrel for TM L96?

Hi,

I m looking at getting a PDI Outer barrel for the TM L96, the fluted one (Bull barrel) config.

Are the PDI outer barrel stronger (thicker) then the original TM outer barrel?

Has anyone tried PDI outer barrel for sniper rifle? If so, was it worth it?

Thanks :)

Salut Long_Bong,

Im gonna write in english for simplicity.

I just measure my PDI light outer barrel for VSR 10 and compared it to my stock TM G-Spec barrel.

The walls of the stock TM G-Spec outer barrel are sligthly thicker than those of the PDI outer barrel. The outside diameter of the PDI outer barrel is slighly thicker than the TM G-Spec Outer barrel. The diffrence in both cases is marginal. The barrel is strong, but it can be easily scrathed compared to the TM outer barrel

Im my case it was worth the investement because I want from inner barrel of 303 mm to 430 mm.

Your modification is cosmetic in nature and will not change the performance of the rifle, so ultimately you are the one that will have to determine if this cosmetic modification is worth the investment.

The ultralight series barrels are thinner and lighter...

The bull barrel series are monsters... side walls are over 1/4" thick all the way. I have the VSR version (but it shares the second section) and just the fluted barrel was as heavy as everything else in the rifle. I felt like I could bang stuff with it and still fire straight.

Problem is that you almost double the weight, so it is not really a field-able option. It does make the rifle a lot easier to handle since most of the weight is past the bipod at the front... If I was to keep it, I was going for the G-Spec lenght ultralight barrel.

The big difference is the quality of the part. PDI barrels are extruded then machined to perfect fit. TM barrels are just extruded, and aluminum quality is worlds appart.
