KSC Glock 18C Slide Upgrade Questions/Advice

Hey Guys

So I finally ordered myself a Glock 18C Metal version..... always wanted that gun since MW2 lol. (and yes I know the one in MW2 is a G18 and not the C version but who cares :p)

Anyways I plan on blinging up this baby and I just have a few questions regarding the upgrade.

I've seen plenty of pictures on ASC with slide upgrades. I was just wondering if the slide here on ehobby is a lot nicer than the stock slide?

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/pgc-cnc-g...0-new-ver.html

I can't really tell seeing how its just pictures, it looks exactly identical to the stock slide in the picture but with laser engravings instead. If that's the case than probably not worth the upgrade for me. Unless the upgraded slide looks overall much nicer than the stock then yhaa it would be worth it for me.

Also I heard KSC Glocks are notoriously difficult to deal with. I've only been able to find a few videos regarding the Glocks but still though can't guage how difficult it would be to replace just the slide.

Anyways any other advice regarding upgrading the Glock 18C is welcome. it's an expensive toy and I don't want to break it right away :)

Thanks

I'd understand the switch if you had a plastic slide of were looking to change the look, but I just don't get what you are trying to do.

There isn't anything to be gained here. Especially since doing slide swaps with this model often end up adding gremlins.

The reason why I'm considering doing this is because I'm assuming the new slide looks much nicer than the stock slide.

I just want to have a nice sexy G18C to look at :)

I wouldn't be able tell you exactly how much nicer the PGC slide is compared to your stock slide, but I have disassembled both the KSC Glock 23F and KSC Glock 18C. They are not too difficult, but there is a very specific sequence.

If you can find one the PDI piston head for KSC Glocks is supposedly the most kickass upgrade you can do.

If you want a metal slide and outer barrel you should probably upgrade the recoil spring with a higher tension one as well.

Not needed. The gun comes with a metal slide and barrel.

Doing the swap would be easy. Fitting and working out all the little kinks and details is the hard part. Tolerences are closer, but the loose fit is one of the reason why the stock gun works ok.

MW2 has a G17 with auto conversion that they call an 18, there is no selector on it.

Good pistol choice though, I love my KSC G18. With a pgc slide upgraded recoil spring (or else it's as reliable as shit) and a tightbore and it's one of the most bad ass guns.

Well, I can respect that, hell even understand it. Parting advice, at least wait for the box to hit your doorstep before you start your shopping spree lol.

Wow this is exactly what I needed. I've seen videos online but it was hard to tell exactly what they are doing but this is a very nice guide.

Thanks a lot :)

Never heard of a PDI piston head upgrade. What does that do? I've heard of upgrading the mag catch to metal and madbull inner barrel upgrade but never heard of a piston head upgrade.

Mine comes stock with Metal slide and Outer barrel as well I think. Any reason why I can't use the stock springs for the new slide and barrel?

I know if I was coming from a plastic slide and barrel but already metal to begin with :)

Yhaa I noticed that it looked just like a G17 but always assumed that the G18 and G18C were different models. Did not know that it was just a modified G17. Nice little tid bit for me seeing how I'm crazy about the Akimbo G18 in MW2 :p

Can you tell me if you upgraded from a metal slide/barrel or a plastic/slide barrel? Not sure why reliability would be shit though as I chose the KSC Glock because I heard that it was solid from the start stock (metal slide version of course). I chose it over the TM model because I heard TM's don't work well with propane and crack in the frame.

I will definitely wait until I have the Glock in hand. I'm the kind of guy who plans ahead and purchases things in advance to save time but with this upgrade seeing how I'm on the fence I'm going to wait.

I really appreciate everyone posting in. Thanks a bunch for all the info/advice and help :)

Mine was plastic to metal, the shit reliability came from the weaker recoil spring with the now much heavier slide. A kingarms replacement/upgraded one is like $25 on airsoftparts.

The issue was i had to keep pushing the slide forward with my thumb until I got the heavier spring for it. Your's MAY not need it but if your recoil spring guide is plastic like mine was i'd advise the kingarms replacement anyways as it's all metal.

First, the productid on the UNCompany is "1337". Secondly, it's sold out everywhere online and supposedly not manufactured any more, you can however find piston heads for TM based guns. From what I understand is that the piston head upgrade gives you a better seal on your gun and not only does it increase FPS by about 5-10 but also makes the system slightly more efficient.

If it comes stock with metal slide then no worries. My suggestion of the upgraded recoil spring and spring guide was mainly because I assumed it came stock with plastic slide and plastic OB if you upgrade from plastic to metal and the tension doesn't "match up" the blow back action becomes "sluggish" since the slide and outer barrel are now heavier.

When you say Plastic to Metal, is it a Metal Slide with Plastic Barrel? Or is the plastic spring guide that your referring to as being plastic?

I'm a bit worried now lol, I know mine comes with a Metal slide but am not exactly sure if the barrel is metal as well. I only assumed both were Metal.

As for upgrading the spring guide, I'll definitely consider that now that you mention it. I want my G18C to be as sex as it can e :D

Great to hear. I'm learning a lot from you guys. All this info will help down the road for sure :)

Really appreciate it.

on mine the barrel and slide were plastic and the spring. everything is better metal.
