TM piston set from ASP?

It's only $20... I've heard people rant and rave about TM compression parts, but the cheap price leaves me skeptical.

Thoughts?

They're even cheaper if bought overseas. There's a reason why experienced airsofters rave about the TM piston, it's value is unmatched. It's very strong; more than strong enough to pull 410+ fps easily, despite being a "stock" piston for aegs that shoot 250 fps. Unlike other more expensive pistons, it'll generally and gradually wear down as opposed to catastrophically failing. Only thing it can't really do is pull a 400 fps and shoot 30+ RPS. The first piston tooth will rip right out despite everything I try. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from such an inexpensive piston? The only real issue is that the piston comes with the stock TM piston head, which can be a bitch to remove if you're unlucky.

That's good to hear... I just need one to replace my buddy's KWA (gen 1) piston + head as they both decided to explode at the same time.

Only use the piston body from this, the piston head is non vented and attached to the spring.

If you need a new piston, get SHS 15 tooth instead. For $10 , these are one of the best pistons on the market.

Do you what the operating parameters are of the piston? Also, which one are you specifically recommending? SHS makes literally a gazillion different pistons, with varying materials and amount of teeth. I doubt they'll all perform the same.

Actually, I need a new piston head as well. I just need to get the mechbox cycling so my friend can get rid of it.

The opaque blue color ones are nice for all types of setups (high torque, high speed etc). The 7 and 15 tooth pistons extremely nice pick up tooth support. Make sure the AOE is adjusted correctly though.

Either those or the Azimuth are the best ones on the market.

I would never use a full steel teeth piston.... I'd rather go through 3 pistons then one gearset. Both cost and effort wise.

It really depends how good all your parts are. I've seen stock G&G gears strip and there wasn't even a scratch on the stock G&G plastic piston. A cheap set of gears like XYT or SHS gears are strong enough for most application and cheaper than certain pistons, though the best gears will cost significantly more than the best pistons.

iKliiu December 1st, 2011 19:59

The best gears on the market right now are probably the Riot SC. SHS comes close though, since it is cheap and pretty good.
