Headsets for left hand shooters?

Been browsing the net looking over headsets with ptt's.

Problem being is im a left hand shooter and I really like the design/look of the Bowman type ones.

Can anyone point out one in that style that sits on your right ear? - or am I stuck going throatmic or earpiece..

**currently using a motorola 1 pin radio.

You could try some replica Comtacs. They take some getting used to but you can change the mic from one side to the other if I'm not mistaken.

You can.. but out of the box it doesn't work all that well. I picked up a set of Peltor Comtac II's from Huang's site over the holidays. To really convert them over, you would need to lengthen the microphone wire connection, and run it over the headband to the right hand speaker.

If you don't want to fiddle with the wiring, i suppose you can just reverse the way they sit on your head (ie left to right speaker and vice versa) and put the mic boom onto the 'back' speaker hanger portion. However, you then would end up with a very long loop of wire dangling in front along with the mic boom (or shorten it). However doing it this method, puts the external mics into a rear facing production, where you'll get nice crackly sounds as the exterior of the earphones rub against whatever head gear you are wearing and little else.

This recent post is what i ended up doing in gutting and reworking the Peltor's to my tastes - http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showpos...&postcount=133

I'm also a lefty shooter, and also tonal deaf in the right ear (too many years of minimal hearing protection with loud motorcycle exhausts) so i prefer to keep my good ear free and clear to hear the ambient sounds around me. Works for me, might not work to everyone else's tastes - I was leery of going bowman series, simply because of the summer-sweat factor - my skin does not react well to sweat-bearing fabric being held against it.. my solution was the best compromise for me.

I use a set of real COMTACT II's... they work very nicely :)

Where can i find Comtac II's amos? and is there anything i need to know about getting to work with aftermarket ptt's? I also use a kenwood two pin - linton radio. Thanks!

I ended up going this route

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-005-K-Boom...item1c226769ea

it is ambi so L/R is fine

BTW I am a lefty too

I like this b/c the PTT is not huge.. they sell big button ones too

http://www.ebay.com/itm/E25-D-Ring-E...item19cc520ec7

if you have the big fingers :)

the PTT disconnects from the headset so you can leave the headset wired to your LBV all hidden and safe and just plug in the PTT adapter... Very Very Nice kind of like the Cavalvy in the way you can disconnect.

bonus is they sell Mini Din's for every type of radio from single pin to multi pin to whacked out screw on type

http://stores.ebay.com/mega409shop/M...=p4634.c0.m322

anywho they are nice

I have a clone peltier style with multiple PTT's all Moto 2 pin (GP68) compatible and well it is nice I don't like the amplification as I have better hearing without the mic's

I was trying to sell it at one time and just forgot about it

anywho good luck

Not sure if you have seen it but Emerson/ZTactical makes a switchable Bowman style headset now. You can re-configure it to sit on your right ear with the mic for lefty shooters.
