Hey if you haven't seen it already check out the mag sealing guide in my signature. You don't necessarily need to replace the rubber gasket but instead could fashion a replacement easily and with little expense using gasket maker.

The guide is a bit dated and there are some things I need to update in there once I've got some time but there is some good info in there. Just pick up some Black Gasket Maker like this stuff:

Amazon.com: Permatex 82180 Ultra Black Maximum Oil Resistance RTV Silicone Gasket Maker - 3.35 oz.: Automotive

You can find it at Canadian Tire for cheap.

So, is the black sealant not prone to breakdown like the blue one?

BlackBerry January 12th, 2012 11:44

When I last spoke to Zong, my understanding is that the black sealant is tougher than the blue one.

I've sealed my mags with the black gasket maker disregarding the rectangular seals.

Haven't experienced any problems. Just be patient to give it time to cure before pressurizing the mag.

so you just trow away the old seal??? Sound good to me.

Thanks
Uzzi

I swear by Zong's method. I've used it to seal up many a mag with great success.

Yep +1 to Zong, used to use regular seal, changed for this one and it's a lot better. Propane doesn't eat it as much.

Z0ng, YOU ROCK! you helped take my m945 from out of action, to game ready over night (had it next to the heater to help dry internals). I know this wasn't my OP, but thanks all!
