Clone UBR stock Fitment on WE Gbbr?

Hey guys, I've googled and searched ASC but couldn't find a definitive answer to this.

Has anyone tried installing Huang's UBR stock on a WE m4?
Is it a drop in or will it require modifications?

Thanks

I've found most AEG stocks fit the WE Buffer tube. YMMV.

UBR stock uses a custom buffer tube, so you need to replace the one on the gun...

Unfortunately, WE uses RS threads on the buffer tube. The one that comes with it is for WA GBBRs.

If you like that stock, you have to buy the real MAGPUL one. There was one for sale in the classified recently at around 120 I think...

Wow. I guess I'll have Get the RS version. Thank you very much that saves me the hassle of taking the stuff apart only to realize it doesn't fit.

Depending on the brand, it might come with the AEG and GBBR buffer tube. The one I have on my WE 416 is A.C.M... not 100% if that's the one Huang sells.

WTF!? NO.

The genuine Magpul PTS UBR's buffer tube has some weird thread on it (WA?) that won't fit WE.

The ACM/ELEMENT UBR clone (like the one airsoftpartsshop sells) has RS threads that fit the WE M4 receiver perfectly.

The clone UBR will fit WE.

(Big thanks to Qlong for the inspiration and black cheekrest)

I was certain it was the other way around... weird.

I don't like this stock but good to know it fits without a hassle then.

Oh good thing checked this thread again haha. Thanks drake! I'll try and install it tomorrow. There's no mod like cutting the buffer spring or anything like that right?

Just make sure you reuse the rubber puck from your WE buffer tube. It will save you having to use washers or the like. All you need is a small screwdriver that will fit in hole at the end of your WE buffer tube and carefully tap it out.

Drake May 31st, 2012 21:43

+1 definitely be sure to use that rubber spacer or your bolt carrier will jam on the buffer retaining pin.

Otherwise the WE buffer tube is the same length as a RS one (as is the UBR's) so you can use any RS/realistically sized buffer tube as long as you use that spacer. I have a RS VLTOR tube (5 position) on my M4A1.

Ok I'll watch out for it. This rubber spacer is on the inside in the back of the buffer tube?

redneck12 May 31st, 2012 22:37

Yes, if you have the buffer tube off and shine a light down you will see it right at the back end. Just use a screwdriver that fits in the hole at the butt end and work the puck out.

Ok thanks!

Update**

I had a minor issue tapping the rubber spacer out of the WE buffer tube. It was glued in there like a mofo. So, I ran to Rona and picked up some metal and rubber washers. I couldn't find plastic washers big enough so that they don't move around on the inside.

I decided to mix them up so i get both cushion from the rubber and stiffness from the metal. These washers were snug in the buffer tube so they are not going anywhere.

This is what she looks like now

Big Thanks to Drake and Redneck for answering my questions.

For you guys wondering if clone UBR will fit your WE gbbr, here's your answer!

Don't mean to necro this post but figured I'd ask you before I give up
I grabbed one of these today at TA and was told I would have to grind down some of the threading to get it on. I bit of work and I got it. BUT my spring guide and bolt will not fit down the buffer tube. It just get jammed tight at the opening. Is this a faulty buffer tube? I dont want to go all the way up there again considering I was returning something that was broken on purchase the day before.
