350 fps for indoor games
400 or under fps for out door games
Snipers can be finicky depending on game...usually between 400 and 450, but you cant shoot anyone that is a certain distance away from you according to field rules and must switch to your side arm.

I would suggest NOT going the sniper role, and just playing a few games with a normal rifle before you invest in killing one guy for your entire 6 hour game. To many new guys all want to be that crazy l33t sniperz, but when you get into it....its quite boring. But if its what you want to do, go for it.

FPS limits are not the same across Canada. Him being in BC and you being in Ontario makes a lot of difference.

Maybe list up what brand of Mk 17 you've got while you're at it. The how too will vary wildly based on that.

VFC mk17 , previous owner put a long smooth bore and i added a raptor fet which has the nice pre cock feature and made me want to convert fully to dmr. i assume dmr fps are same as sniper fps in most cases?

What brand of barrel? Also, consider the following upgrades and mods:
  • R hop (accuracy)
  • Shimming your hopup unit (consistency)
  • Shimming your inner barrel (accuracy)
  • Correcting angle of engagement (durability)

FPS limits, and whether or not DMRs qualify as sniper rifles, largely depend on the host. Skimming the BC calendar shows most events have a DMR limit of 450 FPS (.2) with a minimum engagement distance of 60 feet (as opposed to the "normal" AEG limit of 400/40 and a BASR limit of 500/100).

EDIT: This is of interest to you.

I see he is in kelowna which is where I run the games.

Our field limits are
400 for full auto AEG
450 for DMR. MUST BE LOCKED TO SEMI meaning you CAN NOT put it on full auto with out tools and taking the gun apart. Side arm recommended and you will have a M.E.D of 50 feet
We do allow up to 500fps on Bolt actions ONLY. Side arm REQUIRED. You must be a known and trusted player and your M.E.D will be strictly enforced at 70 feet.

If you are 18+ PM me and I'll meet up with you to AV you and invite you to tsunami so you can start attending our games.

also if you are serious about coming on as a marksman *I hate the turn sniper* I would be willing to take you along as a spotter a few times. Teach you how to actually move through a bush field, get a flanking position, wait for the right time to shoot, and never be where they think you are.
