what are the best hop rubbers for AEG right now?

hello all
I'm looking at hop-up packings and nubs right now, and there's a lot of new stuff on the market compared to what was available a few years ago.
What are the best ones ?
Has anyone tried one of them with outstanding results? ( with .25 under 400 fps)
thanks!

On my side all my aegs have the Guarder clear one, from my point of view it's the best i had. For the bucking i made it myself with a part of a Bic (pen) and it works perfectly...because i found all the others too soft.
Always under 400fps, works very well with 0.25g and 0.28g.

pdi w hold if you are going with conventional

Keep in mind Guarder clears tear very, very easily - the also do not work well in conjuction with Madbull Python inner barrels due to the diameter of the inner barrel itself.

I find the Guarder Black rubber works better than the clear.

I've always followed Amos' & Thundercactus' pushing of ARS rubbers - they're phenomenal and I always acheive the best results paired with an SCS nub. I also like the stock ICS rubber and swear by that too.

Prometheus also just released some new products i'm fairly excited and curious about see this thread - and thanks to Stealth (are you ears burning?) he should be getting this or something similar in very soon.

Edit: SHITBALLS! I just noticed he got them in stock - payday is friday boo :(

That is true, but as i live in the Real-cap world and not in the Hi-Cap world i haven't broken any rubber yet, even in my m249 :)
I have a Madbull Python in one of my Aeg and didn't have the issue with the diameter...it's a Black Python 300mm.

I ran guarder clears on that barrel... wrap the end of the rubber in some teflon tape and it will snug into your hopup just fine.

Rabbit October 23rd, 2012 15:13

The tearing of the Guarder clear comes mainly from removing the inner barrel from the hop up assembly (getting it bunched up) if you're doing a fix/upgrade - just be careful.

Diameters on the Madbull Python II's are all the same - in conjuction with the Guarder Clears there is just more play than usual - rectified with some teflon tape to make it a tighter fit.

I like the guarder clear and the Systema one too.

I tried a few of the fancy spool shaped nubs and just got jam after jam.

Jimski October 23rd, 2012 15:25

ok but aside from tearing, has anyonce noticed any improvements in BB trajectory? I've tried many hop units and rubbers and it's never been convincing...

PDI W-Hold bucking. Outshoots everything else that was said above. Works well on Madbull, Lonex, and Prometheus barrels and easy to install.
Followed by REAPS, which requires some fiddling with and breaking in.
If I had to ABSOLUTELY choose a standard-mound hop sleeve, it would be the Prometheus purple, but I wouldn't even use that without modifying it these days (R-Hop)

Since you asked about "right now", why would you consider rubbers that were introduced to the market 8-10 years ago?

Also, if a nub is making your rounds jam, you have some other problem or it's an installation error. (pinch jam)

i just installed one of those Madbull "Shark Fin w/ x Nub"

It's a RED rubber with a pretty cool looking Nub (looks like the concave nub from Shredder)

haven't tested it in the field yet but with it installed i've gained about 10extra FPS

Anyone try these out yet?

Danke October 23rd, 2012 16:16

It was the Madbull red on mine that was jamming. It was underhop, or jam with no in between. Went back to the Systema rubber and all was well.

The R-Hop is very interesting. Its' just that AEGs are loosing their shine right now.

Jimski October 23rd, 2012 16:17

thank you!

well because I have several spare rubbers in my parts box that are a few years old and I don't know their brands.I was not very satisfied with my hop up last time I played and it's the standard stuff that came with the (CA) gun...
