Your Teeth
Hello everyone I've noticed a fair share of people dont wear lower face protection . I have a question for all who dont arent you worried about your teeth chipping or what ever .. I'd like to wear a keffiyeh around my face to get a better look down my sights .. i wear a paintball mask i have been bending it but its still not the same
Are you not worried / just take a risk Have you been shot in the mouth area? Will a keffiyeh stop chipping ? Do you just keep your mouth closed? Any close calls What do you wear ? Me personally im too worried about spitting out my two front teeth Ideally I'd like to wear just goggles and a keffiyeh is this enough Im also worried im a aggressive player closing the distance that I'd get a point blank shot to the mouth Thoughs, comments. |
I don't wear any lower face protection, I accept the risk and keep my mouth closed to help prevent it happening. The only time I wear any is indoor games, and it is simple a 4" pentagonal mouth protector. I have had several close calls, hole in my nose, fat lips, a couple bbs in the mouth, I still prefer no lower face protection.
Not much except a mesh lower protector will fully protect. There have been several instances of a mouth guard (boxing/hockey style) of merely containing the broken teeth. A problem with balaclavas/shemaghs/keffiyeh for teeth protection is the fogging issues cause by the moisture in your breath being pushed up into the goggles/glasses. |
You can cut down the cheek/chin area of yer pb mask to allow aiming down the sites but itll make it easyer for bbs to get in from the side or u can try

Two teeth chipped so far myself, and I know at least four others who've suffered the same. Not one of us wears some kind of face protection except eye wear to this day. It is a risk obviously, but one you must except. There are non interruptive mouth guards now, if you are interested.

I keep my mouth closed. I've been shot in the lip once but since I kept my mouth closed my teeth are fine.

I never wore more than goggles until I had one of my teeth shot clean out at 20m from an AEG shooting sub 300fps. I would highly recommend wearing lower face protection at all times. Some masks don't come down very far and are easier to aim with.

from what I heard on this thread just keep your mouths .. so for those who got chipped teeth were you speaking when you got shot or what?
|
The first one I was breathing heavy from running around. The AEG that shot me was about 100 - 120 feet out shooting 360 FPS on 0.20g BBs, but running 0.25s. The BB was a ricochet off the ground if you can believe it.
The second was from an AEG about 25 - 30 feet away shooting around 380 FPS with 0.20g BBs, and running 0.25g rounds. My mouth was closed, but it split my lower lip and chipped my tooth anyway. There is no denying that it is a risk. Keeping your mouth closed is not a guarantee of any kind. I don't wear face protection for easier breathing, non fogging eyewear, and being able to properly shoot my gun. |
I have dentures and so dont give a shit

Yes No. Think about it! It's just fabric that BB's can penetrate. Sometimes Yes Nothing - mesh lower |
Nothing is more canadian than chipping or loosing a tooth while playing a sport!
So far the chipped teeth I saw first hand came from being hit at a weird angle. Chipped a guy's tooth by shooting at him from below through bushes and threes. And another that was being shot from above and a BB bounced off a cement floor or a gun. In both case, peeking was part of the problem. Still, I can't see myself wearing a full mesh mask outside. I do indoors. |
In cqb fields it should be mandatory. I am hosting games in Mtl and since an accident happened a month ago and a guy lost half his front teeth. Face mask are now mandatory and IMO the metal mesh one is the best (see my signature pic). In cqb with G18C and the like at very close range, it is asking for trouble. You hear the muzzle report and BANG there goes your teeth ! It's not like outside when the distance of engagement is greater

I've got 2 crowns, they're as painful as they are expensive lol
I wear my M40 gas mask in cqb, still nothing in the field, but I do tend to hide my mouth behind my optics lol |
any face protection will fog you to death except mesh.
mesh for success, mesh is fresh. mesh lower are easy to tie to tac goggles and they're deformable, and concave to fit properly on the gun's stock. http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...666/mesh01.jpg and you can still wear a shemag on top of it if you want. |
