Stock & colour matching problems

Having trouble finding some info on this sort of thing.

I bought a "Dark Earth" Magpul MOE stock from an awesome user here on the forums. It was included with a G&P WOC GBBR M4 set, like this one:

http://www.airsoft-arena.com/g-p-woc...ark-earth.html

Part thread I bought from:

What I was wondering was if anyone knows if this piece is an actual magpul stock. It just seems REALLY dark as opposed to other dark earth stocks I've seen on-line. A simple Google search of "magpul pts moe stock dark earth" yields a variety of different colours. My best guess/explanation is that G&P uses ridiculous lighting when they take pictures and the stock seems a different colour than it actually is.

The stock on magpul's site is quite light too: http://shop.magpul-pts.com/product/moe_stock

Owners of the legit magpul stock above, are they darker than their images online? Are the versions that g&p use just ripoffs? I was hoping to find a lighter coloured stock like the one listed on their site.

Below is my own "ridiculous" lighting picture, and some more in natural light. In the pics is another stock I own which is almost the exact same colour when you place them side by side. The tele stock is a TAN stock ordered from ACMgear. :(

Any sort of input would be appreciated. :)

That is FDE. It's the TAN stock that is not tan.

Give me a sec, I will take a picture of my M4 FDE and ARES XM110 TAN, you will see right away.

Natural light (cloudy "grey")

Incandescent light + LED flash

A camera can't really pickup the camo colors correctly (and that is why we use them!). The TAN looks a bit more yellowish than with the flash. FDE look in between flash and no flash, closer to the flash picture.

Also, the pistol grip and stock are EXACTLY the same color as the receiver, so yes, lighting can be a bitch. (And the M4 has FDE grip, XM110 has tan grip)

Thank you for the info.

So what you're saying is that it's legitimately the Flat Dark Earth colour and looks like what it should look like?

FDE as a color is all over the place, between manufacturers and even between Magpul products.

I have an older (when they first came out) CTR stock and its darker and more OD-ish than a more recently purchased MIAD grip (both RS, not PTS). A genuine PTS MIAD (for AEG) is lighter in color than both and has a more tan-ish hue. Knockoff Magpul stuff I've seen looked darker and browner (caramel?).

Tango Down FDE is closer is darkness to my CTR but has a browner hue (rather than OD).

An ACM UBR stock is lighter in color, sort of a "coyote tan" kinda of color.

An Element "Dark Earth" is a lot browner.

RS Troy rail panels in FDE are muich lighter, being almost sand color.

A good example is my M4; Lots of different manufacturers and lots of non-color matching;

Stock; STAR M93 (FDE)
Pistol Grip and Trigger Safety; RS Magpul (FDE)
Larue Index Clips; ACM (FDE)
Gripod; Ebairsoft one (Sand)
M3X Light; Element (Tan)
Rail; King Arms CASV EL (FDE ?)

still looks good tho !

Wow guys - much appreciated! I guess if the matching is really an issue - I could always go buy some paint that's FDE or close too it. I've heard that Krylon khaki is pretty similar, so is a a rust-oleum dark taupe colour.

I personnaly don't really care about the non-matching colors on my M4. Plus I don't really like the idea of painting my rifles so i'm keeping them as it is and it gives it a special look :P
