PDW as a secondary?

Hey guys,

I think I'm looking to trade in my KWA USP (GBBP) for an AEG PDW as my backup and I'd like to hear some thoughts and opinions. I want it small, preferably pistol size so I'm largely looking at Mac10/11s, MP7s and Ingram. Can anyone suggest a good (price isn't a problem), electric, durable/reliable, & small PDW I could rock? Thinking for CQB and to pair with my VSR. I'm not really feeling gas these days so preferably electric.

I've got my eye on this one:
Tokyo-Marui-Mac-10-AEP

Will it work and is it possible to upgrade?

Remove the gun link we are outside of the AV'd area.
I have used an mp5k as my seccondary while sniping it works just keep in kind it does weigh about the same as an m4.

Thanks, updated.

Yeah, I have an mp5a5 but its a bit too large to use as a backup imo.

Not a bad idea though.

If you want to carry the weight... Why not.
Most small AEG rifles can do that, like MP5K, MP5, P90, KAC PDW, even G36C or SIG 552. Maybe a plastic body one will be a good idea in this case because of the weight.

Well, Keep the pistol. Unless its something you're not really fond of using.

When packing for a sniper loadout, you just need as much firepower as you can get in a smaller package, as to not overencombre yourself with more weight or obstructions on your person.

For me? Its my TM VSR-10 and my TM VZ61 AEP for my secondary. My AEP fires brilliantly within my MED and its small enough to not be a hassle. A pistol does the job fine too! Just load up on more magazines if that is a concern.

If I want to be a bit more noisy... I use my KWA Mp7.

If anything. You only want to pack secondary firepower as a last resort. If you're being caught within your MED range as a sniper, you're doing something wrong. The Secondary is a last ditch thing, keep that in mind.

Thanks for the info!

One of the rifles I use does not have a minimum engagement range (shoots 350 fps) so I'm regularly pulling out a secondary. My vsr10 does have a minimum engagement range though and while a secondary is largely unnecessary with that one, it has been required in a few cases. I'm finding the pistol just doesn't put enough plastic down when I need it to. I feel like a mac10 could lay down some plastic while being a similar weight to my pistol. Is this not the case?

I really only want 1 secondary weapon and if its also good for CQB that would be a huge plus. I haven't considered AEP though so I may look into that.

Ohhh, I'm actually really digging that TM VZ61 AEP. It's not much bigger than my USP.

I run a KWA MP9 as a secondary while playing some recon/sniper role, otherwise I stick to my Glock 17 when going assault. Reason is I want good firepower if I get attacked or surprised, so if I have to "Go out and go loud" to fear the enemy, and then have some more time to fallback :)

I have an umarex-licensed mp7 marui clone that I use instead of my socom on occasion. Both are bulky guns, so there's not much of a weight discrepancy between the two, also it shares the same type of mag release as the USP. The battery is small, but when used as a backup I never have any trouble with endurance. Plus the short mags hold 50 rounds and fit perfectly into the pistol mag pouches you already have. I've had it since 2008 and haven't had any issue with it, can't tell if I'm just lucky or what :P You can grab a left or right handed leg holster for it as well. Hope this helps :D

Take some steroids, then run an LMG as your backup.

Check out the cyma AEPs there pefect for what your looking for and having full auto on a pistol certainly helps

Have you thought about how you'd carry it? Some exist, but I've not seen too many holster options that would work nicely with the guns discussed here, and you definitely don't want two slung weapons. You could make your own Kydex if you had the means though.

I can't speak for the plastic TMs, but stamped steel SIGs (even the shorties) are bloody heavy for a secondary.
