Pistols that can accept RDS on the slide?

Recently, I've been playing with some pistols and completely fell in love with them. Thinking of picking up a pistol, however, one thing I really want is the ability to mount a micro red dot sight directly on the slide. I'm not too thrilled with the mounts that attaches either to the bottom rail or through the slide lock. Are there any suggestions?

I've seen aftermarket Glock slides that have a space for mounting a docter sight, and there's the Airsoft surgeon (IIRC) docter sight base for TM hi-capa 5.1 that replaces the rear sight.

Personally, an optic that moves with the slide is a PITA to shoot with

KWA USP's can actually accept a real steel micro red dot with some fitting. But no-one's modding KWA pistols. I'll change that..

There are a few ways you can do this.

You can first sub a plate with a dovetail for the rear sight and bolt the RDS to that plate. Cheap and nasty.

You can run a mount off the lower frame. Kind of nasty in my book also but (big but) less loss of the dot during recoil as the slide cycles so maybe important to some.

You can find a slide that allows "melt in". The coolest and cleanest method and it'll also let you keep some irons for when the battery dies but also the hardest to pull off right.

What pistol you prefer plays a huge part. Glock and Hicappa easy. Anything else; well nigh impossible.

Thanks for the replies guys! I would like to mount it on either a 1911 or a HK 45/USP. Hi-Caps are similar enough to 1911s, however, I do like the slimmer profile and the ability to mount wooden grips.

Danke, can you point to me where I could find these plates or slides than can "melt-in"?

I've seen these "plates" that you can buy for pistols that replace the stock sights and you just toss something like a JPoint or Docter sight on it.

They're like these things.

So slide out your stock sight then put on a micro red dot sight on the plate, in this case a JPoint, then slide the new sight onto your slide.

Not 100% sure on how it works or how effective it is but that's up to you. I'd like to know the results though, I'm thinking of buying an SBR M4 and tossing a Docter sight on it for use in CQB.

Here's some reading from guys who can say it better than me.

Then get a hi-capa 5.1 slide and the base and swap your 1911 internals into it, they're compatible except you will need one that has the barrel bushing cutout, or just switch to a bull barrel type format.

So the basic idea is:

Get a TM 1911 variant (MEU, Desert Warrior, Nighthawk for example?)
Grab a 5.1 slide with a bull barrel and removable rear sight
Grab one of those mrds plates
Put it all together?

That's a bingo!

Try and match the brands of the outer barrel and slide to avoid problems.
