SVD Shooting fully auto?
 

Hey! I was just wondering why my SVD Is shooting fully auto, initially the gun was shooting great no issues on semi. Today I load up a battery plug her in and the dang thing wouldn't shoot at all, turns out one of the wires leading to the plastic contact tip was disconnected, I put the wire back in no problem (Should I hot glue the wire back in?) And after I got the battery working the gun started shooting full auto? What is going on? Its a King Arms SVD

Wait, wait. Now, did you HOT GLUE the wire? I hope I understood that wrong.

Semi-auto (or lack thereof) is caused by the cutoff lever. It's a small lever that rises when the sector gear finishes a revolution, and pushes the trigger trolley (the part that completes the circuit when you press the trigger) up and out of the way. If that part is work down or cannot more freely, it won't be able to fulfill it's role.

A second, less probable, cause may be the selector itself that is acting as if full auto is selected when you put it on semi, disengaging the cutoff lever and causing the problem you have.

That's where I'd check first.

No I didn't hot glue it, I just don't want the wire to keep slipping out.. How can I keep the wire from disengaging?

And where exactly is the cut-off lever and how do I fix the issue?

And the gun is only 3 or 4 days old so it shouldn't really be worn out, unless it came from the factory worn out?

I'm not sure I understand which part is disconnecting, may I request a picture?

The cutoff level is inside the gearbox. If you didn't open the gearbox and it worked before, I'd look elsewhere.

Okay ill check the manual but I don't think it has much in it..

Oh, that's the battery connector. Mini Tamiya, to be precise. Only way to properly repair it is to solder it (solder a new connector, preferably).

That should not affect semi-auto at all. I can't offer you a solution, unfortunately. Not with the details I have.

It looks like your tamiya connector is fucked. Looks like the wire fell out of the "wing"

Go to a hobbystore and get a set of new connectors (I don't think they sell the wings individually). That or go ahead and change over to something like Deans. It's easy enough for you to do that and that will fix that.

Also, correlation does not imply causation. Your battery connector and the trigger assy. are two different systems. Likely your cutoff lever is worn or there's something wrong inside your trigger assy. If thats the case and you're not confident enough to do your own work find someone else to do it for you.

actually the king arms has a small selector switch near the trigger that when switched will allow it to fire on full auto. I had the same thing on my KA svd.

I was going to ask if be had it on full auto also
