butane

is it possible to use butane in a gbb if u put silicone oil in it? because it works the same way as the green gas can, and i sprayed it on the ground and it froze just like duster gas

Tankdude October 21st, 2005 15:32

Probley. Be more expensive thou.

Zanzibarbarian October 21st, 2005 15:39

Butane is, I believe, at a considerably higher pressure than propane or duster, therefore if you were to use it in a GBB, it would have to be one hell of a pistol; i.e. a finely tuned WA infinity type, of course with metal slide and many other upgrades.

Kimbo October 21st, 2005 15:54

Because of the differences in boiling points, Butane is stored at a much lower pressure than propane. I suspect that it would not be a good alternative to use in a GBB.

how much would a 1000ml can of green gas last(shots)

Rumpel Felt October 21st, 2005 16:05

Butane is a bastard gas!

Stop saying, thinking or buying "green gas" and get yourself a propane adaptor and stop being a sucker.

i'd buy a propane adapter but theres no 100% pure silicone oil at my canadian tire or at home depot in my city.

Rumpel Felt October 21st, 2005 16:15

CT and HD arn't your only places if it is a major city. You need to try a hobby shop. And if you were to use butane, you'd still be needing that silicone anyway. Use that Canadian retailers tab at the top, click the first link, get yourself a propane adaptor and silicone right from there.

MadMax October 21st, 2005 17:24

butane exerts about 40psi at room temp whereas propane exerts 115psi.

I also carry silicone oil.

You're 16... where's you GBB?

nic_s October 21st, 2005 18:11

Plus there would be hella cooldown, no?

PTE. Pyle October 21st, 2005 21:42

i have already thought and tried to use butaine it dosent work not even enough preasure to cycle the slide but the one shot it gets off hits hard. it might work for grenade rounds but propaine is cheaper

hattrick June 21st, 2006 22:44

works perfect for the first twenty or so shots in my stubby hi-capa
The following thirty it seemed to have decrese in pressure and as a result, failed to press the loading nozzle all the way back.
It did however manage to press the hammer back every time allowing dryfire
It'll probably work fine in shorter gbb's (glock26 4.3 hicap etc)

MMMiles! June 21st, 2006 22:55

Nooooooooooo.
Use duster, Alex. Butane is very poor performance.

Greylocks June 22nd, 2006 05:59

How about you try to read the FAQ? There's lots of information on GBB, gas to use, etc, instead of asking us to repeat it for you?

PS, you are 16, and that is another set of problems you should read about.
