Canada Customs Woes

I purchased a Carrier Bolt Group kit at Cradle Airsoft for my KJW/TK M4 GBBR v2 for $164US before taxes/shipment (plus $34CAD to claim it at the post office).

I never dealt with Customs before. They only held it for 1 business day so I thought it wouldn't be so bad.

But when I came home and opened my parcel I only get the Carrier Body and a jar of lube!

I contacted Cradle Airsoft and waiting for a reply.

Anyone dealt with this issue before and how can I get all my parts?

Thenooblord October 22nd, 2015 20:39

they break stuff all the time, its part of the "fuck the peasants" tax,
oh the perks of working for the CBSA, absolutely no accountability, responsibility, or recourse

Damn it. And so my upgrade 'kit' sits here, useless, mocking me. For some reason they kept some of the contents of the parcel inside to give me false hope. I imagine them mocking my reaction as I opened it. The sticker on the pack even says 'not opened' but clearly I didn't get all the contents. Clearly they had no regard for the word 'airsoft' on the package.
Hopefully with federal elections done we can get a PM who can reform those lizardskins at the border with a bit of prodding.

I don't think that was part of their election program. But if it was, I would definitely vote for them LOL

What was in bolt carrier group package? if it was only a bolt carrier group there's nothing restricted, airsoft or real steel.

Secondly, was there any CBSA tape on your box or a notice it was opened by CBSA? If no, then it wasn't tampered with by CBSA. Which means it could have been tampered at another point, or if the package was properly closed (?) shit was missing when it got shipped.

cowardduck October 23rd, 2015 01:19

Hi Drake,

the contents of the package are given at the products webpage:
Carrier body, X-Ring Piston, Velocity Reducer, Polybelt, Loading nozzle, Jar of “Ring and Valve” lube, Hex wrench, Instruction Manual.

I have 2/8; carrier body, and lube.

There is a CBSA Postal Import Form with other notable features:
Messages on the form saying it is classified as "Machinery Parts", print saying "Not Opened", only one strip of clear tape at the opening (no tears and re-taping), but the envelope seems roughed up.

Would hate to think Cradle Airsoft skimped on the contents...

Drake October 23rd, 2015 01:30

Doesn't sound like CBSA is the culprit. CBSA tape is yellow and clearly identified as CBSA tape. (example)

I would suspect things were missing when it was shipped.

shelcoof October 23rd, 2015 02:06

Customs always tapes things back up with yellow tape if they ever open it.

CanadaPost is not allowed to open up any any parcels or letters.

So this might be traced back to the shipper.

cowardduck October 23rd, 2015 02:07

So I don't have the yellow tape which indicates it was not opened.

@Thenooblord You made a post at another thread which gave me the confidence to get the Cradle upgrades and I assumed you (or someone you knew) had a positive experience upgrading a kjw m4 gbbr, but little did I suspect I'd run into this issue. Not your fault considering I didn't do proper follow-up research.

Now it means I just have to wait for CA's reply in my email and get their explanation.

My GHK74U box was taped with yellow taped when I imported one. Nothing was missing.

As stated, sounds like the retailer didn't place in the item. I would contact them ASAP.

Actually my buddy does unboxing videos for his own personal use, incase there are issues.. I.E messed up rail from over-seas.

Yes, that's what you're suppose to get when opened by CBSA!

You should contact the seller. Looks like it was their screw up.

waylander October 23rd, 2015 12:47

I ordered a bunch of stuff once which included 6 GBB mags. The seller didn't package properly and there was not enough tape to securely keep the box closed. The tape was loose at a couple of points and considering how heavy these mags are the assumption is that 2 of them rattled around during handling and fell out. In the end, still the sellers fault for not properly packaging.

My parcel wasn't a box, but it should have been. Instead it was a 12x9 padded and sealed envelope - hardly enough to secure 8 separate kits. Give it a look and shake it like a xmas present, and anyone would be skeptical. Just as others have pointed out, the parcel wasn't tampered with. And so the fault lies with the shipper. With the price I paid for those upgrades, I get something underwhelming. I contacted the shipper but they still haven't answered. It could be the time zone and their store hours, but I'll give them the rest of this day before I open a PayPal dispute.
