Selector plate to bushing/bearing size

Hi folks,

Can anybody explain why only certain selector plates will work with 8mm and 9mm gearboxes? Is there really a difference besides the longer plate often with the metal contacts?

I'm interested in putting together either an 8mm or 9mm V3 bearing gearbox, but I keep seeing selector plates that say they're rated for 6mm and 7mm. Some say 6mm to 8mm, but not seem to say 9mm. I know that LCT makes a drop in 9mm gearbox now, but the selector plate they use looks just like the one from the 6mm gearbox. Maybe I just don't see the difference, but could someone please explain?

Thanks for your time as always those who can contribute.

probably the clearance cut for the bearings in the plate.

It is the clearance underneath the selector plate where it goes over a bushing hole. If it is the wrong size, just file it for a minute.

Awesome, thanks guys. And Dr. Pestobanana, thank you very much for the how-to!
