Laser Satety testing

Here is my delimma :)

I have been given a laser pointer for my gun. Very small size, easy to assemble and overall I really like it. The problem is that it did not come with the paper that tells me the output and eye safety :(

I have looked around to find out how I can figure out the class it is. Is there any kind of service that would verify and re-certify the laser output for me and tell me if I can use it on the field or not.

I know I know, laser an make us go blind and many people are scared of it. I also know that it may cost a lot of money but I am willing to pay it. If there is an alternative to laser then I am all ears.

No one in Canada has stepped forward offer that service yet.

That item will be for backyard plinking only.

I'm going to assume that if it's been given to you, is small and a laser pointer, it's a cheap china laser and unfit for safe use.

Perhaps show us the packaging and unit itself?

Here is their picture. I will probably stick to using it off the field and target practice.

Yeah, it's just a cheap laser, not eye safe, you can't use it for airsoft.

Thank you for verifying it for me. What is the maximum output for an eye safe laser?

The Link Danka posted is the exact information I'd provide you with, I will say however, that you're unlikely to find anything you can use for under $200, and even in that range, you'll be fairly restricted in choices.

The problem with cheap or knockoff lasers, even with paperwork, have proven that they can go over the safe limits. If a field even allows them and not many do, it'll be from a well known and respected laser company.

ThunderCactus use to offer a laser modification to keep it at the 3mw and under rating, not sure if he still does them or not
