[Fixed]King Arms M4 Hop-up clamp won't come off

2 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I was about to install a new inner barrel and bucking but for the life of me I can't open the clamp on the hop-up unit. The KA unit is a little different it has 2 notches and the normal hop-up units don't have this.

I tried using a tiny flat head and still can't open it...is there some special way I don' know about with KA units? G&P i have had no problems opening the clamp...

thanks

Pry it off just like other m4 hopup units. Small blade screwdriver or knife edge under the short side and pop it off

I use a pick, gotta lift those tabs real high to get them off.

alright I will try...I'm afraid that I would break the clamp...

Well the tabs arent gonna go through the hop chamber. You have to get in there to lift them up and over.

Use a small flathead screw driver. That is a strong tab it won't break from prying and is surprisingly flexible within reason....

I got it....used a lot of force to lift it up...the parts where I lifted are basically chipped plastic...still can put it back tho...now i created a opening where I can easily lift it...

gotta say KA makes their stuff super tight...same goes with their delta ring...had to cut it off to install new rails

That clip is TM spec for some of their gbbp and they're super flexible so you should still need to do the same for other guns as well.

Sounds more like you should be attempting to do things properly as opposed to breaking everything you can't get off.

I've cut off a few KA delta rings. Broke an KA upper clamped in vice taking one off. Now I'll try quickly, and if it's overly right, I snip it off with dremel. Safer imho

I've never had that issue with a KA.

-Picattiny vice
-Proper AR wrench
-Proper application of heat

As for the KA hop up clip, yes they are a pain in the ass, but you should be able to remove them by lifting the tab with a flathead screwdriver.

first of all: I came here to ask for the proper way to take off the clamp, and I was basically told try harder and I did. Again, it's different than 3 M4s I have dealt with. Those are easy.

then the thought process of the delta ring: I don't need this delta ring, it's gonna be thrown away anyway...(also I got a local gun tech to do this for me, because I lack any big tools) I was told that he doesn't want to try to turn it any further because he might break the receiver so we decided to cut it off.

and buying all that equipment for one gun is not practical..I started this project as a boneyard gun I bought for cheap to learn the V2 gearbox...However after 2 years I turned it into my main gun...So i started doing more external mods, and finally thought of putting a new barrel/bucking in although the old one still works...basically after I fixed it up, I find that the consistency of this gun to be realllllyyy nice so I wanted to actually doll it up.

I don't intent to get another m4 so those tools would kinda pointless :D...nor I don't think I'm gonna change the rails ever again, even if I do the current one is easy to take off with just a wrench since it's just a nut...
