M4 / ARP 556 Airsofters - Assistance Required

Got this G&G ARP 556 like that out-of-the-box.

I noticed that the charging handle would not pull all the way back or pop-open the dust cover. Didn't want to force the charging handle so I decided to remove the upper receiver to inspect further and the first thing I see is this - Is this piece supposed to look like that, or did I get myself a lemon?

When the dust cover is off, the charging handle can pull the bolt back, let me adjust the hop-up, and return to its original position just fine. The jamming with the charging handle happens again the moment I close the dust cover and I won't be able to open it again without first re-disassembling the upper each time.

How easy is it to replace this piece? Is the ARP 556 built close enough to other M4s that I can just swap it out with another one or is this proprietary?

Any advice would be great, thanks in advance!

It's supposed to look like that, it's what trips the latch on the door.

Yeah, I did some digging around and confirmed this as well. Took it to a couple of techs to get their opinion on the issue and they have no idea why the charging handle isn't working the way it's supposed to.

Long story short, because the gun was messed up out-of-box, I just ended up sending it back to the seller and they replaced it with a working one free of charge. This was awhile ago and I've since managed to deck this thing out. You can see it here if you like ;)

You can consider this issue resolved!
