new AK 3000 round drum magazine

UN Company has word on a new 3000 round drum magazine for the AK series of rifles by Hero Arms. There isn't much info on it yet, just a picture.

OK, im getting one.

Uh... now all you need is to find a real drum mug, gut this plastic thing, and make a more kick ass one.

Aftermarket electric drum mags typically have been poor performers from what I've heard. Usually the best ones come with a gun made by the same manufacturer, ie. TOP or CA M249. However I have to say that mag looks to be of some excellent build quality, and authentically detailed. Let's hope it works.

I like that it's styled after the Soviet 75-rounder rather than the commercial Chinese pattern. This may be just the excuse I need to purchase a Guarder RPK kit! :)

I own two Electric drum mags. The Custome JET Drum mags for the AK & MP5.

They work flawlessly. I purchaced them from WGC. the quantaty was limited and the price was very expensive.

*Drool* Guarder RPK Kit..

Cheers

Wow, and I thought hicaps were lame....

SockMonkey January 5th, 2006 16:48

What do you propose for an LMG low caps? I understand that some would use it on an AK to spray and pray no skill wanker shoot. But for some one wanting to put together an LMG kit i think its sweet. but thats me and im wrong at least once a day.

Damnit. Why don't they make a Thompson drum?
That's basically one of the only reasons that I don't buy one.

Lynxicanus January 5th, 2006 17:34

I wonder what they mean by soon, coz I want one right now!

I was working up the plans to punch out some metal ones with a number of punches I have. If these are all plastic I may well do that anyway. Though I do need some as I bought the RPK kit for myself for Christmas. It aint half bad. heavy to lug around, but fun to plonk on the ground or in a window and ruin peoples day.

One day if I get really excited I'll write a review with pictures.

Damn, thats roughly 5 minutes continuous firing. I need one of those. Oh, and maybe an AK to go with it too.

Duff January 5th, 2006 22:56

just shoot the rounds right out of the drum :p

No, you're right. Here the MAA frowns upon hicaps, unless it's your only mag and you can't afford a bunch of lowcaps yet, OR you're running a support weapon in which case the large ammo capacity is accepted as a balance for the added bulk and encumberance added by a support gun. M4s with a clamp-on bipod and electric C-Mag need not apply.
