Adding trades / wording to your metal guns after the fact?

Okay, I suspect this is a silly question but thought I would ask incase someone has come up with an ingenious solution.

Has anyone tried to add trades / lettering to blank metal slides from a GBB?

I received a couple of WE guns but the metal components are without trades or writing. I'd love to be able to add my own custom writing to the metal.

Couple thoughts I had but was wondering if anyone has tried anything to get this done.

- sticker / decal transfer (don't think it'll look any good)
- chemical etching? (how do I do this without damaging metal?)
- laser engraving / etching? (Is there any cheap places to do this?)
- get engraving done from local shop? *

* Almost tempted to take my metal slide to the local keyman shop to have them engrave the slide. Only problem is having someone recognizing the slide as a part of a gun. Thoughts?

Decent gunsmiths will do that for you. It's a rare skill these days, but some still know how to do a full job that will leave you breathless.
The primary issue is that it's a 'gun part' and any other place may not react too well.

Doing it yourself is a pain in the ass unless you have access to really good equipment.

Yeah, it's possible. Will from spec arms had his WA STI Eagle engraved with additional customized personal trades..... it looked nice with SPECARMS engraved down the side, but he had it professionally done.

But as Grey says, people who are capable of doing so competantly are far and few.
