Vest/Chest rig that will fit big & tall ppl
 

I'm 6'6" 300lbs and I am having a hard time finding a good vest/ load bearing rig that will fit me comfortably. I have one now but I have to let out the straps all the way but its still a bit short. I'm sure someone is in the same boat as I am, so hopefully you can recommend a particular brand, web site, or anything that can help myself and others. Thanks.

edit: in regards to price, not much of an issue. I pay more for everything I wear so I'm not expecting to get it for under $100 (I'd be suprised if it was) . But I'm not a hard core player so my max is $300.

You may also want to state how much you want to spend quality rigs can cost anywhere from $200-$700.

Have you considered using a needle and thread and modify it yourself to accomodate your, *ahem*, girth.

I'm not trying to make fun of you, I'm no bean pole myself. Actually, the little asian guy at Creative Outdoors practically mocked me for asking for the size of pants I did(Sorry, Jeroon, I just happened to be there, *ducks*).

The reason I mention this is I'm butchering a CF 82' harness and belt into a chestrig of sorts to handle 4 G3 mag pouches.

Something to consider.

6'5'' and 295 here. I've got some feelers out for the same thing. May have to buy from an American surplus site. Keep you posted.

Im a big lad, try out a TT mav, works for me. I would try a chest rig. you wont have the tightness across the shoulder issue. Ive got a vest, Ranger rack and 2 chest rigs. I find the rack and chest rigs fit best. Have you got a surplus store in your area?? best thing would be go down and try a bunch on. Other than that you can always go custom.

6'6" 303lbs, try the god ol' fashion Canadian '84 Pattern web gear. Fits just fine and you can wear it at your hips or above your waist. Cost you around $60-80 depending on where you go and what condition it is in.

Memel, you still thinking about that eh? I remember you stuffed two in one of my pouches to see if it would fit :P (Don't anybody dare take that the wrong way, or I'll sit on ya!)

No, I abandoned that idea, it was too tight. I picked up four custom made single G3 mag pouches, but they have the Molle style(?) attachment so I need to modify my CF webbing to suit it. Good 'ol needle and thread. The style of mag pouch you had will fit my CA33e mags just perfectly, even with magpulls on them.

i am what could be called wide without the tall and i got my hands on a tactical tailor chest rig and even when i fitted it to my size there is still about 6 inches of space to expand it(i am 5'11" about 260ish). i got mine used so i didnt pay too much, but i have seen tactical tailor stuff on daves surplus for a decent price.

6'7" with a 38 chest. I've used;
'82 webbing - Awesome! Rides nicely on my waist.
Arktis 1600 - Again, awesome! It was long enough that I was bending my arms backwards to get the utility pouches.
'82 LBV - Not the best vest, but it felt fine.
TT MAV - With an X-harness and set low it's awesome, otherwise it's too high to reach the back pouches.

I honestly CANNOT see anyone not being able to fit in it. It's got about three extra feet of strap for width. Seriously. I put it around me AND my gf, and we still had spare strap left! :lol:

For a seriously big dude, the Wasatch is a good option.

Worse comes to worse, I'm sure you can find a shop locally. I found a shop that does boat tops and such. A bit expensive (or - very expensive, depending on how you look at it: materials are often at cost - but shop rate is still ~$70/h!), but turn around is usually within a week for me.
