battery charger

hi! newbie here. while cleaning the storage today, i found box and written there is 12 volt 12 amp battery charger. whan i checked it out i saw this big heavy charger. while inspecting it, i saw some switches with 12v and 6v and the other switch says fast and slow. so it's pretty clear that this is a 12 volt battery charger. my question is, can i use it to charge an 8.4volt or a 9.6 volt battery? sorry if this sounds stupid but i just want to make sure about this.

thanks in advance

Only if you have a fire extinguisher nearby, and money to replace your batteries.

If Greylocks didn't say anything, you probably would have told the guy to go ahead and use the damn charger. Shut up and stop jumping on the hate bandwagon.

warphotographer, that charger is much too powerful to charge airsoft batteries. It says 12 amps, and most airsoft batteries are best charged at 1-3 amps. Putting that kind of current through an airsoft battery probably would cause it to explode or burst into flames. It sounds like it's designed to charge car batteries or something...

harleyb went into the details, and he's correct.
Do some research, buy a proper charger.

You can get a simple airsoft specific wall charger for $20 or a good one (much better to save and get a good one) for $80-200. I dont recommend using anything on any airsoft gun that wasnt made for it, with how much this hobby costs, dont take chances, just make sure you do things right so you dont waste money when you break things by using the wrong tools.

The word is 'proper'.
Try giving no advice until you have experienced the subject being discussed in person.
So unless you have seen what a battery pack can do when it fries... or any other subject, you dont know.
This will change with experience.

Renegade) April 25th, 2006 17:53

Agreed, but I wasnt giving advice on something complicated that only experienced players would know about. But batteries and chargers are more common, so I know how to PROPERly charge a battery. As for my comment after yours Greylocks, I do take it back, it was a poor attempt to fit into the humor, appologies to the thread starter.
