G3 SG1 vs SG550 Tokyo Marui
 

How do these 2 guns compare? Could you tell me which is better, the pros and the cons. Could you also tell me if i should check out other brands of the model or other similar models. I am looking for somthing with versatility that can be used as an auto and can be used to snipe with on occasion. Thanks :-D

SIG550 is no longer made and hasn't been for some time now. Unless you're buying one used, this is an easy decision.

-Both have bipods
-the sights on the 550 are better in my mind
-they can both take high and low mounts
-barrel length is close
-the 550 has a newer gearbox but has had some issues with the burst chip
-the SG1 takes a large battery but the 550 has a collapseable stock
-mags for the 550 are easier to find and cheaper if you buy MAG mags
-the 550 definatly has more cool features like the swinging trigger gaurd and burst chip but the SG1 is proven pretty well to be a great gun.

I would go 550 if they came with a full stock. I have owned both for a short time and I like the SG1 better for the reasons above but it is a close race still.

thanks Hortons, hmm since I am fairly new to airsoft I might aswell ask peoples opinion on some more guns. Im having trouble choosing my first gun and have done hourse of reasearch. I am look at the Tokyo Marui.... m4a1, ak-47, and the 2 listed above. If anyone could shed a little more light on these guns I would appreciate it. Preferably someone who has used each one. also if anyone recomends any guns I should check out that would be nice aswell. thanks alot

Umm, the personally Horton, the swinging trigger gaurd isn't anything special, its designed for gloves incase their too thick and don't fit. But I found thats total horse shit, the only people the swinging trigger gaurd would work good for would be left handed shooters I found. And the Burst feature on the 550 was the downfall to the gun along with the weak plastic work i.e. cracking stock etc. Sigs are way cooler guns IMO, but if you could get ahold of one, switch the stock out for a 552 stock, and some other parts, metal body, it would be a magnificant gun.

The burst was the part of the downfall but still a neat feature when it works. The plastic is cheap but I found it squeaks allot less than the SG1. The Sig is way more left and right friendly than the SG1 with the fire selector on both sides as well.

a team mate has a 551, and 552, body is flimsy definatly metal body is a wise choice, but not too comon to find, but the squeeking actually comes from where the stock and the body come ogether, a rubber gasket might remedy the problem. sofar he hasnt had a problem w/ the burst chip in either and his 550 is coming up on its 6th birthday, i suspect that people arent timing the fire selector properly when they reassemble after opening the gun up causing the burst fire issue.

Yes, the fire selector on the sigs are really nice, and they're very comfortable guns to use.

The Ca33e is better... no squeak, no barrel wobble and its full metal.
It shot at 320 fps. It has the same look as the g3 sg1 but in 5.56mm instead of 7.62
Only con... accept only ca33 mags

I'd beg to differ about that, Cortexburns CA33E sucked balls the whole time he had it, mind you I don't know how CA has picked up their 33 series, mind you it is a really nice gun to hold, perfect size.

Never had any problems with mine...
Only thing is you have to tighten the hopup screw once awhile

Another + for the CA33E, It runs perfectly fine, have to tighten the hopup here and there, but thats the only thing wrong.

How exactly does the trigger gaurd work better for lefties? It has zero application in which hand you are more dominant with. The fire selectors are ambidextrous, so the gun is universally perfect.

I've own the 552 (shortened model of the 550 without a burst chip) & the TM G3SG1.

The Sig I find far superiour to the G3SG1. Despite using smaller batteries, the stock shoulders a lot more comfortably, the fire selector is ambidextrous, magazines can stack together, is V3, unlike V2, Sig sights have excellent rear aperatures & the folding over tree in the front sight is great.

The G3SG1 is large, flexes & has annoying body creaking, non ambidextrous fire selector, a real pain in the ass for lefties such as myself, magazines are limited to locap or highcap, unless you want to spend a ton on a box mag or that such, can be fitted with a slither stock, turning it into a G3A4.

Both accept upgrades extremely well, but the V3 mechbox runs smoother overall between the two.

A downside to either is that metal body's are a fair bit expensive for either or. The G3SG1 metal body can crack where the cocking tube and upper receiver meet, tho the Sig's metal body (actually for the 552 but it will fit a 550/551) has no tabs/ect on it that can break.

Overall, despite the Sig being out of production and very limited in availability, it is by far the superior gun in my mind.

CA is releasing a full-metal SG1 shortly. I've handled the TM G3 series and two words spring to mind immediately - creak, and flex. Decent guns but the full plastic construction is a big turn off.

Rumor has it CA will also be working on the complete line of SIG rifles...

me personally id pick the g3-sg1 over the sig any day but thats just me

God damn it, My money is going into a real steel Sig,........to be correct Swiss Arms CQB and/or Carbine.

If CA starts making Sig's, I'll def have to pick one up.
