Well, if your battery is heating up, then you probably have an electrical problem. If you dont know how to work on an AEG, which I'm assuming you dont, bring it to a local gun doctor. Seeing as how you live in Montreal, this should not be a problem for you.

EDIT: I guess it could also maybe be a problem with your battery. You wouldnt happen to have an extra one would you? Then at least you could figure out if it is the battery or the gun.

Do NOT let the battery heat up like that when you pull the trigger.

You either have an electrical problem, which is shortwiring the battery, the good thing, or a mechanical problem, IE seized gearbox, which is a bad thing. Whatever you do, stop holding down the trigger and get it looked at.

Since there isn't any weird noises mentioned, I assume it's the first, but either way, you need to get it checked out.

You should really find another batter, or get it checked out.

You could have somehow over-drained it or... I forget how it works. But it is possible for a battery's polarities to be switched... that could be the problem, and holding the trigger down for 10 seconds, again, isn't good if the polarity is switched.

Stop shooting the gun with the current battery.
Find a new battery, borrow, buy or steal. That's the first thing to do.
If that battery doesn't work, go to a gun doctor ASAP.

if the polarity is switched will the gun still fire because it worked fine before and now its dead

No, it wont. I highly doubt this is your problem though. The connectors only go together one way, so unless you're really forcing them together the wrong way, this is not your problem.

I recommend you check out this thread: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=525 and contact one of the people listed under Montreal.
