Waffen SS Impression advice

I am planning to put together a Waffen SS impression based on Das Reich or Wiking for next season.

I have looked at all the internet suppliers and many seem to have good products. I am hoping that some of our members here can recommend one or more of these suppliers to me, based on their personal experience.

In addition if you have any general advice on buying kit for this period, or have favourite books on the SS or on German medals/insignia for the period I would be grateful to hear about those as well.

Thanks in advance to all who answer.

lost battalion should be able to hook you up with most of what you need and they are of excellent quality, atthefront.com has a big package deal thats has almost everything you would need for gear but apparently there wool isn't top notch but it is suitable. That kit is about 1300$ if I remember correctly

I hope not. I'm just looking to find out people's experiences with various retailers so I can deal with people of integrity when I make my purchase.

I have made my decision, and no one (okay maybe my wife) is going to get me to change my mind, so they really can save themselves the keystrokes.

Run along now Swatt. Leave posting for the people who actually care to find out, or contribute. Btw, what does the other T stand for?

Lawdog. If you want quality above all else, then go with the affore mentioned Lostbattalions ( http://www.lostbattalions.com/ ).

If you are worried about a certain retailer, check out this. It rate all the retailers out there an' has helped me stay away from some of the worse suppliers out there.

How did this impression come about? Was it the honest question or the helpful response?

I'm usually not the type to flame, but that was totally not needed, and had no reason to be posted, based on the posts in the thread.

If I respond to your post, than I will start the above mentioned event.
So I will not....

On the other hand Lawdog, lot of places have German uniforms for sale.
AtTheFront.com, 1944Militaria.com is the best quality which equals lots $$$

Sites like Captzak.com, ww2militaria-kcs.com are cheaper yet they are still good quality, I have all my uniforms from kcs.

For gears, I recomend www.militarytour.com. This guy is Canadian, and great to deal with, very reliable. Also he has ALL the basic gear a Deutschen Soldat needs.

Ebay is also a good place to look.
You can get stuff dirt cheap.

Good luck with your Impression, and hope to see you soon on the field.

Waffen SS

Hey Lawdog, I actually have a full Waffen SS impression of the "Deutchland" Regiment. My uniform consists of both the M1941 wool uniform and also the Herringbone Twill summer uniform. All equipment/webbing plus nice little extras such as 1938 original ammunition for in the cartridge pouches and replica "potato masher" steilgrenade. I will post some pics of my uniforms and equipment soon. As for books, I would recommend searching ebay for these and you can get all of these books at great prices. I have a library of books related to the waffen SS. If you need any help let me know. In total I think I have spent approximately $1500.00 or so to complete the impression.

Here are some pics of my gear.......

I'm putting together a Panzer Uniform, I also have a Camo smock. I go through Spearhead Militia on Ebay. Here is the site.

http://stores.ebay.ca/Spearhead-Militaria

This guy has an excellent stock backed by great track record.

To give you a bit of choice here are a few others, though I don't know anything about their bussiness practics. I would assume they are good though.

For insignia here's a good site. Thoough I have not done bussiness with this company yet so can not tell you how good they are.

Hope that helps you out.

1944 militaria is mainly hit, sometimes miss. My buddy has had bad experiences from them but I was fine. Orderin' is a bit slow. Not as slow as Grigsby's (2 months, but always worth it) but it is slow.

Militarytour is alright, I picked up some original Basic Pouches from them (CND) for a resonable price an' shippin' was good an' fast.

Tankdude October 8th, 2006 02:46

on militarytours why does it say for the resin repo that they cannot ship outside of USA?

He most likely drop ships them. In other words, he does not have them in stock. You order and then he orders it from the company that has them. They in turn ship it to the customer directly and it looks like it came from the original seller. If you want one I would suggest you email him first to see if he drops ships.

I just received my DAK tropical tunic that I ordered from http://stores.ebay.ca/ww2militaria-keith7524fnl, which I believe is the same person/company as http://www.ww2militaria-kcs.com

Anyways, I would (also) recommend this retailer since the items are very reasonably priced and in my case, I got my stuff in a very short amount of time. I believe it was shipped out on Oct 4, and I got it on Oct 10. The shipping was about $24USD for regular airmail. A little high, but considering how fast it got here, its reasonable.

I was very surprised when I checked the mail today since I wasn't expecting it for another week or two. I was also worried that they had shipped the wrong item, since the tunic arrived in a box measuring 9in by 6.5in by 6in. Thankfully my concerns were relieved when I opened the package and discovered that someone had meticulously folded the tunic to fit into this small box.

Finally, my last surprise was that the package arrived in my mailbox and that I didn't have to go to a postal outlet to pay customs and pick up my package. It probably has something to do with the fact that the declared value was only $16, not $60 that I paid, and that it was also marked as a gift. :p

I can't wait for the upcoming FR game when I will be able to field my stuff for the first time. I only hope the Axis side will not mistakenly shoot me because of confusions arising from the (sort-of) OD color of the tunic jacket. :(

Anyways, my experience with this retailer has been positive and I will definitely consider them for future purchases.

Yes!
ww2militaria-kcs would be my #1 choice to get German gear for airsoft.

And PUMA(sdkfz234 :D ) I am glad we have another German on our side!

See you at The Game.
