Im not 100% sure, but anything that can hold 8.4 v will be fine. But remember, get a top quality one. Not cheap stuff.
But lets see what others say.

There's a thread on that already.

If you complete your profile, local people to you may even know where to shop.

http://www.bbbastard.com/our_battery_solution.htm

The Charger sells for $60 and will be good for ya up to 3000MAH batteries.

Once past 3000MAH you might need a different charger.

Hope this helps as I dont mind looking for some people.

As per what snake said yes top quality will run you $200 + but if you need
a good basic charger the one I suggested will work fine.

If you want a good one.
TLP Charger for $70 <- Good deal right now and get on it ASAP before gone.

PM 604DA9 to get it.

Most any charger made by Duratrax is top notch. They have a wide selection: http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxp4100.html and are available from almost any R/C hobby shop.

If you want a crème de la crème charger with all the bells and whistles, everyone recommends the IntelliPeak ICE: http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxp4170.html Marvelous piece of equipment but you'll pay heartily for it.

What I found about the better types of chargers, like the computerized Duratrax models with LCD screens, is their simplicity.

They work extremely well, they do everything you could want, and they help maintain your batteries.

When you consider the costs of batteries, and the freaking annoyance of having them fail in the middle of nowhere during a game, the charger's importance hits home.

Mine repaid for itself within a year of use.

Thanks for the Info guys just Picked up a cheap charger for now (Smart Charger is on Order) But I do not have a Charge light on this Charger? Just Curious what a 8.4V NICAD 2400 battery should read when full charged, the guy at the Hobbie store said around 9.8 But that just seems a little high to me So i thought id check in with you guys,

Get a voltmeter and check it manually? A higher voltage number is possible, it the amperage you have to worry about.

grey is spot on

i've had some very high volt readings out of my batts...its the amps that'll kill ya.

One word when it comes to chargers.

Triton.

HaZarD SFD January 14th, 2007 14:13

an 8.4V Battery should read about 9.8. Yes the hobbie guy was right.

A 9.6v 3000Mah should say about 12v because under load it will drop to 10-9.6V
If the battery is under or at 9.6V(For a 9.6V Battery) or 8.4V (For a 8.4V Battery)
Fully Charged, your battery isnt working right and might be toast
