Are grenades effective? When should they be used and is it more efficient in some cases, than just using your aeg?

Many places do not allow pyro, as airsoft grenades are 99% home made, and the possibility of injury, especially hearing loss is very high.

Games that do allow, are usually few and far between, but when they are, its usually a good idea to give a demonstration to everyone before the game, and if anyone has any issues, they dont get used.

A paper tube, with a firecracker charge(a large one) inside filled with dried beans(cheaper then BBs and biodegradable). taped shut.
Still, it can be troublesome as we dont use pin-pull grenades. Having to pull a tube out, pull a lighter out of your rig, try and light a fuse(wind, rain can fuck this up) then toss it with a rig on and somehow not dropping your AEG can be more trouble then not.
For safety reasons, its good practice to give a notice before you toss the pyro....and you dont toss it directly at someone, just near. Shouting "GRENADE" or some other phrase several times before tossing helps notify the other players of the danger sailing their way.
Asking when it should be used and if it more effective...well, you can decide on that yourself....its kinda like asking is wearing pants in public is a good idea.

oh, if you mean airsoft M203 grenades....well, they look cool, cost alot, but the only kill i have ever seen if a M203 grenade going off in the players pouch and essentially fragging only himself. range is limited to less then you can spit.

We used pyro grenades last year in a couple of big games. They work very well. Young guys learn very quickly that hiding out in a building is the WORST thing you can do when grenades are out. The concussion and fright-factor are too much for many. But they give the game a dynamic that simply is not possible otherwise. Simulated "safe grenades" are lame at best.

If people have problems with exploding grenades and being scared by them or potential hearing loss, they can always go home and listen to their i-Pods wide open while playing Warcraft. That's so much safer for them.

Battle is supposed to be intense and the heat of battle is intended to be scary. If you can't take that, maybe airsoft is not for you.

Agreed, but safety is the most important thing in airsoft.

I love grenades, but I know many people who don't. I have also seen what can happen when someone builds one wrong.

we just use red glowsticks in Calgary, every one within 5ft of where it stops is dead and it just be underhand tossed and you HAVE to yell "FRAG OUT" for it to be live.

Some times we use blue as flash but i bearly ever see people use those.

Works really well and people seem to be prity fair when they call it.

ZeroDelay makes the best ones I've seen or used. They are simple, cheap and effective. Dud rate was about 1 per 100.

Never try to build your own. Many people are too smart for their own good and not smart enough to realize when they should get an experienced professional to do the job.

Also in Calgary at our indoor games m203 shells are allowed, and they actually work pretty well for indoor due to the very close ranges. very good for clearing hallways or ramps.

A M203 Nade is great if you happen to be playing a indoors game. It's almost like cheating cause you don't really need good aim.

We had a local guy attempt to make his own homemade grenades without having them cleared through the Manitoba Airsoft Association. When they were discovered (AFTER he used some in a game) they were turned over to me for analysis. They were extremely unsafe and very illegal. If someone were to have been injured by one he would have been facing charges not just under section 6 of the Explosives Act but sections 79 to 82 of the Criminal Code of Canada as well.

The ONLY pyro grenades I trust are the ones made by zerodelay.
