painting a GBB
 

hey guys I got asked this question by a noob to the sport, and now it has me thinking. has anyone tryed painting a GBB speciicly the barrel, Hammer, basicly stuff exposed to oil and abrasion? if you have how did it turn out and what do you use? if not how is there any paint that you know of that would work?

why would you want to paint it, just sand your metal slide with some fine grid sand paper, gives it a nice silver finish

makes little sense to me too.. If you're using it more than your primary, then okay....but if it's holstered for long periods of time, what's the point? If you're going to paint it go with Krylon Camo paints.

ok sure but all im saying is that dont you think it might rub off if you have it in your holster.. thats all i was thinking..

It depends what you're using. If you have a ABS/HW frame, the paint will adhere alot better, and will not flake, or chip.. Metal is a different story. There is alot more prep work that needs to be done when dealing with metal parts.

basicly I was asked about customizing a pistol, becuase you can get outer barrels that are standart gun metal, silver, "blued" or heat treated, and I think I've seen an outer barrel that was colored black (by powdercoating?). I know that these parts experience wear from the slide passing across the outer barrel, so would there be something that could withstand this?

I know the frame, slide, mags, ect can all be painted, but has anyone tryed the outer barrel just to push the boundries of personalizing your pistol?

so just to re-iterate, I'm talking about painting the outer barrel not the slide or frame.

SHARPIE!!!:) That's what I use.

Buy a gun blueing kit from Canadian tire, and follow the directions. That's what I did with my Desert Eagle's Zeke's metal slide.

In the first pic you can see the Zeke's brownish finish. In the second, you can see where I didn't de-grease it properly, so I will have to do it again, but the second time around it's going to look bad ass. Either way it gives you an idea of what can be done with aluminum or steel using a gun blueing kit.

Well, you can get it anodized.. I'm pretty sure that'll wear off too though. :(
