Big Battery in an AUG

Hey guys I am upgrading my Aug, to 400fps. I have the Aug battery 9.6v 1100mah. But I am concerned this won't be enough. Has anyone seen or built a custom battery in an AUG with 9.6 v 3300Mah or bigger? and if so how/where did it go.

I have a battery sling right now with a 9.6v 3800 mah but don't really dig it that much except for CQB

Yes, i've seen an AUG battery - full size 'C' cells - fit into the rear of an AUG. Basically the battery was built with wires separating both of the end cells, then connecting to a short/Kyosho connector (MINI Connector).

Logically the battery was built like this;

C-CC-C
C-CC-C

Where 'C'= a 1.2v C cell and '-' = a wire. This affords the cells the flexibility required to fit into the rear. I understood that the rear mechbox plate cover was modified/cut as a requirement.

A username on ASC called JAVP comes to mind, I could be mistaken. I've seen it here years ago. Not sure if it is still in the database anymore. I know the pictures are on PBASE somewhere...at some time...

I wonder if the battery rumbles insides like a hi-cap.

You're awesome Poncho, thanks dude

You could stick a PEQ on it...you technically can't run out of battery room outside of your gun.

I only spot 6 cells, I wonder where the other 2 cells are....

Also, I think that backplate was completely removed, rather than modified.

I managed to dig up JAVP's post.

Indeed he was only using 6 cells = 7.2V.

Booooooo

wow I call that a mess. I think he might have fitted the two other cells in front of the mechbox... maybe in the grip or just ahead of the box...

It is nice to ba able to fit a battery of that type in there...
But I would recommend to use a 9.6v pack made out of 2/3 A cells, double pack, so you can get a decent 2800mAh and about 30A drain rate. And you won't have to do much work in there.... probably won't even need to cut the plate.

I personaly think that an AN/PEQ is really ugly on an AUG.... just don't fit the gun...

Does anybody have an online guide for removing the gearbox from the AUG receiver?

mechbox.com has a video.

You pretty much just unscrew and pop out the rear plate, then whack the stock a couple of times against something and eventually the mechbox pops out. I read somewhere (I think on ASC) that you can put some para cord or something through the hole at the back of the mechbox to help you pull it out more easily.

here's arnies'

page 3 has the mechbox removal step, but it's not entirely obvious

here's mechbox.com's

tunabreath, do you have any further instructions for this method? so far the wacking method isn't really producing any results for me

Thanks but PEQs suck on any gun, I'll stay with the battery sling before I run a PEQ

I use a 1700mah 9.6V 8cell Nicad battery.
I sawed off the lower part of the internal butt-plate.
That makes ALMOST enough room to store the battery.
I then carved the inside of the rubber butt-plate so that it doesn't bulge.

I have tried fitting stuff outside, it just doesn't do any good, the AUG is bulky enough by itself.

You can also gain space by using round gold-plated connectors (I forget the real name ) on the battery.
