Old gear, worse then old people stench

Alright, just dug out my old webbing for the first time in, 3 or so months... And it smells really, really badd.. Anyone have suggestions to get rid of the stench?

Wash it? There are also various sprays so you can attend your next game smelling flowery fresh.

Febreeze? Oust? Chlorine?

If it's the Canadian webbing, just take it apart and wash. I did it when I had mine, and there were never any problems with it coming apart afterward.

Plus it stops smelling like a diabetic fart.

Just load it in alone (or with other heavy kit such as cordura) and use dish soap. That's what I did for mine...worked fine and it was clean.

Mind you mine was just caked in mud and didn't smell like quif.

WASH BY HAND, that way you know it wont breakdown

wash it 2 times in a row using whatever usual soap you are using for your clothes and a bit of dish soap, with hot water. If it can be put in the driing machine, try to dry it wih bounce or something like arm&hammer.

There's really no need to "wash" the smell out. I find it best to toss all my BDUs and Vests into the dryer with 10 sheets of those scented frabric sheets (use the expensive kind, the cheap kind smells weird). You can use medium heat.

Leave the smell. Keeps the effin bugs off ya. And the players.

i wouldnt reccommend washing it in warm water as the color will run, id use cold, and would even go so far as adding salt to prevent color fad/ run. ive had lots of mates wash their gear in a washer... some turned out well... others not so much. make sure its on gentle, cuz the washing machine is pretty brutal on gear, esspecially seams.

you can dry it in a dryer, but i always just lay my stuff flat to dry as precautionary measure.

I just poured washing powder in a bucket, and soaked the old CF webbing I had in it for a few hours, then repeated until the smell was gone, and boy was the smell gone, now it smells like fresh laundry, lol.

What about vinegar and cold water. Ive never had any kit long enough to have to wash it...
