Imporing Mags

Is it illegal to import say TM Lowcaps from the US? My dad is going to the states for a bit, so im wondering, if its possible to physically carry them over from the states, to canada.

baraccuda April 19th, 2007 23:12

its legal just dont have fake rounnds

Porkchop April 19th, 2007 23:17

ok, I'll bite.
Don't you know that everything is verboten unless it is expressly permitted?

But I must say that after that sensitivity training those nice young men with their rubber gloves have become surprisingly gentle.

DarkAngel April 19th, 2007 23:50

So TM Lowcaps should be alright, cause they dont have fake bullets and i dont think anyone can arrest you for having mags with a hole that is too small for an actual bullet >.>

espeically if for all they know, it could be a feed tube for an assembly machine or something
and i recall that unless its a whole gun, ammo or a receiver, there should be no probs right?

The importing FAQ says you can buy mags from overseas as long as it doesn't have fake rounds in it. So I assume if your dad comes across the US, the same rule applies. But it's not the same as importing from Hong Kong so although I'm 98% sure theres no problem, theres that 2% margin of doubt. Good luck all the same thou.

cool thanks

perhaps storing in luggage is the best option but this could get either way, carry on will definately get checked out but at least they don't go through all the items in the luggage.

attack-beaver April 20th, 2007 01:19

well i was thinking of ordering some STAR G3 mags next week but with what happened at VT could there be more of a chance of mags gettin stopped?

underground April 20th, 2007 01:22

the issues of shipping airsoft could be at risk of siezures (possibly) too if that is the case because of the VT incident.

may be a bit off topic, but not completely.. so my suprise (given it was an accident) i received to TM SIG552 AEG standard capacity mags (the ones with "fake bullets") and it passed the customs inspection! i know it was checked because there was yellow tape on the box saying "opened by CBSA"
stroke of luck? customs officer havin a nice day? i was a bit surprised..

Greylocks April 20th, 2007 07:34

It all depends on how much attention you want, and how Customs feels that day.

Does he want to get searched? Because fake ammo or not, he will be asked several questions at the very least. The items will show up in the scanners. It will slow him down.

Is he flying or driving?

If driving, they can decide to search his car for other stuff and that's not fun.

I know I say this often, but it is a risk and you should be aware of it. What you do is your choice.

DarkAngel April 20th, 2007 17:45

Hes flying, but tm mags arnt really conspicuous ud think, am i right? they look like a hunk of metal. If you line em up in a box, the way the star lowcaps are lined up, im sure there wont be a big problem i hope

freddyclaw April 20th, 2007 21:05

the making a claim of purchases could cause a bit of trouble too if you get someone who is not happy or something. Just figured that might be another trouble spot that would be worth checking into.

Greylocks April 21st, 2007 10:17

If he's flying, this will definitely show up in the scans. What happens next is either simple or not.

I would not do it. If you need something from overseas, order if online and have it shipped. Then nobody but you deals with any crap.

Jimski April 21st, 2007 11:03

I ordered tons of mags from everywhere, never had one single problem.
they stop the boxes from UNcompany and Xray some of them though.
been opened once, received them with a nice red customs crayola...

stay away from the fake rounds.
or mount them locally.
