CA G36 Screws
 

Hey all,
Does anyone know the specs for the front screws that secure the barrell assembly? They are part #M3X33 and #M3X25.

Hmmm...maybe thats the answer. Metric Size 3 x 33 millimeters and Metric Size 3 by 25 millimeters?

I know I've tried unsuccessfully to find replacements at hardware stores, they seemed non-standard. Might be a good idea to just replace the existing nuts, (retap the front end holes?) and use screws you can find readily.

Or try a bolt & screw supply shop or an electronics shop. Worst case, change them to standard (imperial) sizes that fit.

Yeah, I could find nothing in the way of machine screws small enoughand long enough to work as a direct replacement. Went to the Bolt Supply House...nothing..Edmonton Nut and Bolt...nothing, hardware stores, nothing...haven't tried electronic shops yet...that's my tomorrow....weeee...

since most cars are made in japan, and the most used size is 3mm....kinda like airsoft...

My guess is that these would be M3 screws. the manifoil screws are 30mm long... might work for you.

*edit* forgot to say that I found all the screw I needed for my gun there... now it is all titanium...

there is the replacement...sort of.
For CA Part # M3X25 use DURATRAX Part # DTXC8644
Result: Perfect fit

For CA Part # M3X33 use DUBRA Racing Part # 2271
Result: requires dremmeling off a portion. Once done, perfect fit.

The bonus with these replacement parts is that they use an allan socket head and these heads fit perfectly into the stock recess holes. Now you don't need to lug around a Phillips screwdriver to disassemble this piece.

Their metric screws, M3's, you can try ordering out of cannuckian tire automotive since a ton of automotive screw's are metric. Fucking pain in the ass I know.. otherwise try speanaurs website and see if you can get samples or a small order, brighton best is another good company that will supply those types of screws, also make sure you get them in bare or black oxide/black zinc, otherwise you'll end up with shiny ass zinc plating by default, though bare screw's in metric usually come with a typical black oxide coating...
as for the tops being hex keys - you'll want to look for either flat socket cap screws or regular socket cap screws.. if there's no head on them their called socket set screws (or grub screws :p) - happy you found what you needed.
Your equivalent to an M3 if ever you try to change nuts / screws later to Imperial from metric and are trying to find something is #4 machine screws (or socket screw products)

I will say that the convenience of going to your local hobby shop and pulling the parts off the shelf is more satisfying to me the custom ordering them.

100% and going to your local hobby stores a hell of a lot more convienant too, its when you run into those insanley small or strange parts that get's frustrating, or when those hbby stores aren't carrying what'cha need, so least there's a plan b if you end up ever having to order ;) by far though support those local hobby shops

Well... If anyone has had time finding screws, I know a guy who owns a hobbyshop right here. I can just walk in, ask for the parts and ship them to you.... I got Titanium screws on my guns... almost impossible to strip, only way you have to change them is if you loose them.

I am going to a fastener shop here in town cuz I know people keep loosing shit for these guns. I will buy a nice batch of the body screws and handgrip screws and put em up for sale for a good price. Prob do $15 for whole set. Body and front end.

I was wondering can anyone in this thread still assist me in finding body screws for a CA8-2 ??? According to my manual which uses a #03x25 near the magwell is this the same as the M3x25 screw???

I think it's the same... but if you're looking for those outer barrel screws all you need is to go to fastenal or any fastener supply store and order a cheesehead screw of any type (slot, philips, hex) and whatever thread pitch you can get and the correct length (25mm) and get the matching nut to go with it. All you care about is if the head fits in the hole so that the handguard doesn't hit it.
