Who remembers games @ Area51 in Tillsonburg?

YouTube - Band OF Brothers Airsoft event

Tru just sent me this link... awesome video of a game I still very clearly remember in my mind. I can't even remember when this was, but I'd guess October of 2002 or 2003.

Awesome field, and the owner had some wicked contraptions, booby traps, weapons, pyrotechnics and other various devices.

Great times indeed, and watching this video brought back all those memories again... and a tear to my eye. I want to go play now....

How many people can you name? :)

Wow, olde times. Is that where Sha Do set his tinderbox ghillie on fire? This vid makes me miss London field too. There should be a screenshot of ASC from that day somewhere in the pics.

Lol! I think Sha Do set his ghillie on fire at FR...

oh man, I miss the old times...

IS Area 51 still open?

MadMorbius May 22nd, 2007 09:09

WOW, that's from the wayback machine....

BT, I don't know if the field is still operating, or accepts airsoft anymore, but I suppose we could look into it. It was a long ass drive...

Yeah I remember that place...only played it once, but it was a nice field...

The guy who posted that video replied to my comment:

Brian,
The video was shot and edited by Janet, Ken Hammond's friend at the time. Understand the
field has now changed owners. Last I talked
to her, she didn't recall if she'd kept any
of the pictures she'd taken or not. As to
the video, there are 'free' programs which
would let you rip this clip and convert it
to a format which you could play on your
windows media format player. If you need
a hand finding those programs, let me
know.

Yikes, its an ASC History lesson, last post there 2003.

That field was great. I remember sitting on a land mine for about ten minutes before I realized where I was. I never set it off though. I guess my ass just kept missing the plunger. Good times.

See? Those are the days I miss... we need to rule ASC with an iron fist again...

Yes it is. I talked to the new owner, heard something (from players at the last Flagswipe game) about player owner trouble, and he is fully interested in allowing airsoft to be played at Area 51. If you, or someone else, wishes to set up a game I can pass your request to him or when I can arrange my next Sunday off I’ll host it at Area 51 (if there isn’t a big paintball game that day).

I also found some Pic that I took, mid - late March, if anyone is interested I’ll put them up later

Does he still have all those cool gadgets and contraptions that Ken had?

You have to give me a list of 'All the cool gadgets' but yes I was shown lots of toys.

Rockets, claymores are just a couple that come to mind
