Regular Ratio Helical Gears and Systema m120S spring compatible?

I just want to know if the m120S will shred the regular ratio Systema helical gears?

Naglfar July 4th, 2007 21:38

My understanding is that helical gears are stronger than flat due to the increased surface area, and that steel flat gears would take an M120 no problem.

i know they can take a m120 no problem but what about a m120S?

The gears will be fine. It won't shred, they're extremely tough.

However, you'll suffer from decreased motor life and battery life. Both of which, are intertwined. The motor requires more current to crank the spring since the gears aren't taking up the required at that velocity. So on each shot, your motor will draw more battery power. Simple as that. On top of that, you'll get added motor wear.

There will also be added stress between the pinion gear & bevel gear as well as between the bevel gear and spur gear.

yea i am currently using the Magnum motor, and i've been using the Guarder SP100 without a problem, and i coulding even hear a whining pitch. Once after i put in the M120S, i could hear a faint whine.

Am i crazy or is it the motor?

That's normal. Heavier spring = higher stress on motor if you don't increase the torque of your gears. It gets louder as your spring gets heavier.

ok well im back to this thread, i've used my Helical gears with the m120 and the sector gear is striped!!!

how could this have happened? i have standard gears, now will my standard gears work with my carbonated piston?

ILLusion July 14th, 2007 21:48

"Carbonated"?

You mean it's fizzy? Sparkling? What brand, Perrier or San Pellegrino?

The stripping could happen if the spur gear's shimmed too tight, and the bevel gear was freewheeling against it... or the sector gear was shimmed too tight and the spur gear freewheeled against it.

Polycarbonate? Yes, it will work. There's no reason why it wouldn't.
