I'm a new member here and I,m very interested in getting into airsoft. I was just wondering if there are any wars/games going on near Barrie Ontario, sorry im not sure what they are actually called. I was also wondering what the average cost would be to play the game. And is it anything like paintball?

Yep, quite a bit. Check out the postings in the 'Regional' area, that should give some more information.

A search for Wasaga is always a safe bet. There are regular games there.

Hi there Greyfox, yes there are game in the Barrie area. We play out of Wasaga Paintball.
Thare is a game there this Saturday night. The cost to play is $25.00 plus the cost of your gear when you buy it. Some of us have spent over $700.00 on our guns and more on our up grades.
Is it anything like paintball.......HELL NO....its fukin better than paintball. Duude come out and see for yourself, at one of our games.

lol thanks a lot :D how much would it cost to rent a gun and gear and such? problem is that i work on Saturday till around 11pm :( i might be able to make it to the dog soldiers one tho. Also is there any way to get a JG or BE sl8? thats the gun style that i would really love to use, but i am having troubles finding it anywhere in Canada >_<

Rentals aren't from fields, but from players with extra gear. I've seen them go for 20$ to 50$ for a game, usually including some or all BBs. Check with the locals for more details.

For the few games I attended, total cost was anywhere between 10$ and 75$, all in.

As for cheaper guns, no one imports them at a price that makes it worth it right now. If you are on a budget, get age verified and browse the classifieds. Absolute bare minimum initial investment is 400$, but aim for at least 600$ to 800$ to have a decent setup.

Also, some users make irregular gun orders from overseas at a nice discount. Again, check the classifieds.

Invest in some good eye protection.

Most guns I know of for rent are usually of the Armallite and Mp5 variety (I think TAC3 has a P90). As was mentioned, nobody in Canada can import the cheaper guns at a cost that makes them a viable alternative, and I highly doubt someone will rent you a $1,000 STAR SL-8. You might be able to find a G36 though.
