G36 Mag Wobble with magwell conversion
 

I seriusly considere the magwell conversion for m16 mags, but i have yet to find one person that didint have mag wobble issues. as much as i want to do the conversion, i think im gona have to stay with the original g36 mags untill the bad wobble issues are fixed ( i have read some complaints of up to a quarter inch movemet of the mag well in the magwell. Thats to much movement for my likeing) If anone knows a way to fix these wobble issues without useing tape on the mag, please let me know before i spend 100 bux on new g36 mags.

duct tape one the mags? so its more tight and doesnt move?

Shim the inside of the magwell with tape, not the mags. That way, you only ever do it once and it's not visible.

The problem should only be with the original production batch (mine is and does wobble). Later batches have shimmed molded in to eliminate the wobble. This was done some time ago so there shouldn't be any original batch ones around brand new.

I have the original one... the wobble is there, but not that big. I modded it with some steel filled epoxy paste. You can just use some celofane film (like the one for the food) on your mag, then put some epoxy in and insert the mag. Let harden for a few minutes (2-3) and then remove the mag. You can also file or sand the epoxy to have a smooth movement.

I also had trouble using KA metal lowcaps. The hole in the side to snap to the mag catch is too low or too small. I removed the magcatch and worked it a bit so that it is a little bit thinner. Now it clips firmly and there is no problems using other brands (like ICS).

I have one not sure what it is... but I found that the cheaper mags wobble while the expensive (metal) ones do not.

Also tape is a good idea if you have soem wobble but I don't have a 1/4 inch lol just the tiniest bit.

I have also had the issue with my Star M4 Midcaps. However, I didn't tape the mags or the magwell but realized the problem with with the mag release not locking onto the mag. I shaved it down a couple mm to fix the problem. Mags lock in tight now.

Update on my magwell conversion status...

I decided to go for it and do the conversion, i ordered the magwll conversion off airsoft parts canada and i also purchased X10 lowcaps ( 68 rds ) metal KA. I went with the KA mainly because they seem to be the best m16 mags availble as well as the fact that they also seem to work best with the conversion ( slight mag release issues but they can be fixed with slight modification to the mag release catch ) all in all, i will do a full review on the conversion once all the parts are in, im gona run about 1000 shots threw the gun and give as dtailed a discription as possible.

I worked on a CA G36 last week that had that conversion magwell installed, and the owner put squares of adheasive backed velcro (black, fuzzy side only) inside the walls of the magwell. I didn't notice much wobble at all from the Armalite mags in it.

Velcro? That's a clever one, gotta try that.

Hell, I have a peice of that stuff in the stock's bolt handle cradle on my M24, my old cylinder/bolt handle was loose and the loudest part of my shooting was that damned bolt handle dropping after the reload and whacking the synthetic stock. Now it's quieter. :D
