Star or G&G

K so id like to get a UMG, both Star and G&G make em, the Star one has better fps but its their first version of it I think. the G&G one has significantly lower fps (like 280 at best...) but its their third release of it. any suggestions?

Humm googleling...

I think shootsoft have an UMG for 1/2 price and it's the G&G copy with Hicap mag.

Saw a good review around the net (i know it's big) but look for the Double Eagle i think and you will find your review and maybe your next purchase.

Get Age verified too !

*Edit* If you don't know how internet work :D

I agree ^^
Get a chinasoft UMP and it should last you 6 months to 1 year of heavy play. After it wears out and needs parts, you will have 3 things:
1. Experience playing airsoft with an SMG
2. Experience with the UMP
3. Lots of money to make a happy decision.

Double Eagle = smaller space for battery = smaller battery.
G&G = Space for 10.8v (kickass), all parts that should be metal, (bolt release, front sight, etc.), are available from G&G, dont know about compatibility with other brands, IF you go 10.8v, of course you have to upgrade your switch and you could potentially fry your motor.
STAR = I dont know, but its expensive. G&G is definitely good enough.

My two cents: Go G&G. Double Eagle, as you can probably imagine, is pretty shitty compared to the other options.

G&G umps are NOT metal. At least, not the body, but other parts might be. Either way, the Double Eagle UMP has all the same metal parts as the G&G. I own one, and it's a good gun for a beginner. If you like UMP's, for the price, you can't go wrong, I guess. I upgraded mine the second I got her. Hopup rubber is awful on them, and generally speaking, their gearboxes all need to be reshimmed out of the box, but other than that, shot a very respectable 330fps consistantly and was accurate up to about 70 feet ish I'd say with .2's. Between the G&G and the DE UMP, I'd say DE if you're new getting into airsoft. But for the hardcore collector, the G&G has the trades you want. Either one will need to be upgraded to make a good, solid, gamable rifle.

Pics of mine can be found here. Will update with new ones with the scope and tac light, just got her back tonight from the gun doc. Had a Systema turbo motor put in, systema metal bushings, systema hopup rubber, and finally guarder v3 steel spring guide. She's a BEAST now, especially with the new battery. Get a 1500mAh stick battery from cheapbatterypacks.com Makes a world of difference.

Sorry man, didnt mean to offend....

But I mean, if you have the money, I'd go G&G.

Oh you didn't offend, no worries mate. Sorry if I came across angry or anything, I'm actually quite a cheery person. Just expressing my opinion, as you expressed yours. And I agree, if you have the money and aren't looking to upgrade, go G&G. It has the trades. However, not all of us have won the lottery so I bought the Double Eagle one for a HELL of an awesome price and put all those goodies in it, for STILL almost half the price of the G&G and right now she's shooting harder, faster and more accurate than the G&G would. *shrugs* Just my two cents.

Non Credo January 31st, 2008 20:13

yeah the DE's definitely got a good cost/benefit ratio going for it

ThunderCactus January 31st, 2008 21:29

Hey, their both plastic, and both have shitty internals, you really cant go wrong either way lol
honestly I'm split on this decision, its the different between decent chinasoft and really shitty mainstream lol
The G&G parts may be a bit stronger, but plastic is plastic. Anyway I like my G&G UMP...

Turd February 1st, 2008 04:03

actually the G&G one is made of nylon lol, and if thats the same stuff the SCAR is made out of thats just fine for me (really durable stuff from what ive seen lol)

and double eagle = pretty much shit lol, I acquired a g36 by them...yeah....not worth what ud pay on shootsoft...fps was poor, material was poor, rate of fire was poor...didnt like it at all lol unless the one i got was pure garbage...

No_Way February 1st, 2008 04:29

The G36 and the UMP aren't the same series...check the review to find out FPS is far better than the 240FPS of the G36

Turd February 1st, 2008 05:25

ok add another umg/ump to the list of considerations lol. The TSD SD .45. 340 fps, sturdy construction from what ive seen. Anyone have anything against it?

No_Way February 1st, 2008 05:48

Yeah...just ....anyone haven't tried one yet...Humm that it's.

Turd February 1st, 2008 05:58

well I saw one of those airsoft quality reviews of it on youtube, seems to be quite well put together:
