Anyone know anything about Firepower F4?
 

I'm looking to get this gun and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it? Is it any good? Worth $150 for playing recreationally with a few friends? How does it match up to, say, a Kraken Aftermath?

Yea, it's a piece of shit. Avoide it like the plague. The Kraken is probably the cheapest gameable AEG out there. Also, wrong section of the forum. This belongs in Airsoft Guns discussion.

It's a piece of junk. Stay away. I bought one thinking I was getting a deal. Was the shortest lived toy I can ever remember owning.

Have one too. Gearbox jammed + it triple feeds BBs.

I dont have a lot to spend on Airsoft, so Im probably going for the Kraken next.

Sorry to rub it in, b3lly, but this goes to all newbies who are considering the low tier guns:
Imagine if you had found out about the Firepower's crappiness before buying. The cost of a Firepower gun and a Kraken to eventually replace is pretty close to the cost of a single new Jing Gong if you and bought it initially, and it is quite a bit better than both.

Sometimes it pays to save up :) (especially in airsoft)

I would definitely recommend saving the extra cash and getting a Jing Gong instead. They don't cost a whole lot more, and you end up with a perfectly useable gun out of the box that's 100% compatible with any replacement TM part on the market should it break. Yeah, they could use metal bushings, a cleaning and regreasing of the mechbox, and a proper shim job to get optimal performance and durability, but even stock, they'll hold up quite well.

As for the Kraken, I think it's a decent gun for the price - probably the best deal in airsoft guns you'll find in Canada. Yeah, it has its shortcomings (clear plastic in many cases, badly shimmed & greased gearbox, crap battery), but it's still useable out of the box. And in the right hands, it makes for an awesome upgrade platform. You can end up with a full metal / wood Kraken with upgraded internals that will outperform and outlast any stock TM for about the price of a stock TM.

I suppose everyone has to start out somewhere - I just chose the wrong place. I was actually just looking up a JG G36c on 007 for $375. Im wondering, in general how are the deals in the classified section? Is there a large price difference between online retailers and the ASC classifieds? Considering becoming age verified once I find the time. Going through my BMQ and SQ training right now so time is tight.

You can find some decent deals in the verified adds section. The guns are not always new but the trade off is most of the time they have been upgraded and ar being sold for less than the cost of the original gun. However thats not always true.

Get yourself age verified and you'll find yourself with whole lot more options especially at ~300 range at shootsoft.ca, they only sell to the age verified.

I agree with everyone. If you're 18, make the effort to get age-verified. It usually takes a while for your status on the board to be updated, but you'll find it's quite worth it once you can access the classifieds.

I'd save up, and buy a CA M15 if I were you. Very well rounded gun...

Total junk!!!..My brother bought a forepower for his first aeg..Didn't even get through a clip and the thing was broke..Save for at least a JG.IMO

I've had pretty limited experience with airsoft guns to date, but no other stock AEG (except my Real Sword T56) has ever given me such a "WOW!" feeling just removing it from the box than my CA M15 rifle. It's heavy (about the same weight as the real thing) and solid. Nothing moves that's not supposed to. There's no creaking, cracking, rattling, etc. And there's no flexing of the body like with an ABS body.

The cosmetic finish is immaculate, and the fibre-reinforced nylon furniture feels both more solid and more realstic than the smooth or textured ABS parts you find on other comparably-priced AEGs.

Its mechbox shell is built like a brick shithouse. I had only seen the internals of TM mechboxes before. When I removed the mechbox from my gun, I knew by its mass this was some serious, heavyweight build compared to the weak TM V2 shells. After over 15000 rounds, the gears were all in great condition and showed no wear. I replaced the spring piston, piston head and cylinder heads with high performance parts, but the stock ones were still in great shape and showed no signs of wear. Only the edge of the tappet plate showed signs of wear.

So yeah, I highly recommend the M15 as a god reliable gun.
