Ca m15a4 CQB upgrade

Hello everyone,

Need help, I'm trying to find upgrade parts for this gun but it seems stores dont really say it should work for this gun.

Can someone help and advice which one should I get? I know what brands I want to know is should I get version 2/3? Would an M16 parts fit?

Piston head
Polycarbonate Piston
Air seal nozzle
Hop up rubber
Tight Bore (What length?)

By the way I'm putting in a MS110SP or SP100 spring.

Thanks for your help everyone!

version II parts.

Perhaps consider upgrading the spring in your AEG until you've played a season or so.

I got it second hand that's why I want it upgraded.

If I'm guessing it right any TM M4A1 upgrade parts should fit the CA M15A4?

If it's a V2 gearbox part, it will work in your gun.

CA gun internals are pretty good in general. I've fired over 15000 rounds through my M15 rifle. When I opened it up to upgrade a few parts last week, I found that none of the stock internals showed any signs of wear other than some light wearing on the tappet plate.

Parts that are known to be problematic on CA are the compression parts (piston assembly) and hopup rubber. Even though my internals showed no signs of wear, I decided that I would replace these parts before they became a problem, and also I wanted to upgrade with a stiffer spring.

I installed a Prometheus MS110SP spring, Systema bearing spring guide, Systema red polycarbonate piston, Systema silent piston & cylinder head set. All parts fit in without issue. The piston head o-ring was loose in the cylinder and needed to be stretched properly (I didn't know and installed the stock CA rubber instead). I will be replacing the tappet plate and nozzle with Systema replacements shortly. Will probably replace the o-ring with the stretched Systema one when I do that, as I think there's a leak (not getting quite the velocity I should).

Anyways, those are good, high quality replacement parts that work well with that gun if you do upgrade it. However, you may consider a lighter spring if you intend to actually use that gun for CQB. An MS110SP plus a tightbore barrel will probably put you in the 360-370 fps range on that gun, maybe more. That's to hot for any CQB games.

It was suggested that I also replace the hopup rubber, and Prometheus and Systema hopup rubber was recommended to me, so that's what I'll be trying.

As for the barrel length, I don't know. But you could always remove your barrel and measure it.

He's only a newb to AEG's more or less, Don was playing in the mid 90's in Manilla! :p

Thanks for the reply man. I don't do indoor games that's why my target FPS is less than 420 FPS as per club rules.

:D I'm old skul! Green Gas and Booster Cans Baby!!

I have no problems fixing the gun but its the parts I'm confused! :banghead:

I don't want to order something that won't fit. :D

Yeah, I was just checking on the spring just in case. Since you have a CQB gun, I just thought I'd say something in case you didn't know the indoor limits.

But the short answer is that any V2 mechbox parts should fit your gun without issue.

DENZILDON March 17th, 2008 01:22

Got it!

I went to the WGC website and normally its m16, m4 , mp5 etc are grouped.

Which group uses V2 mechbox?

Thanks!!!

Crunchmeister March 17th, 2008 01:29

All M16 / M4 variants use a V2 mechbox. MP5s are grouped with the Armalites because they also use a V2 mechbox.

The only difference internally between the full-length rifle and carbines (or MP5s) are the shorter guns use a ported cylinder instead of a solid one. Otherwise, all internals and the mechbox shell are interchangeable.

You may also want to check www.airsoftparts.ca for parts. They're in Canada (Toronto area), have very reasonable prices, and ship very quickly.

Thanks for your quick reply dude!!!

DENZILDON March 17th, 2008 02:15

Dang, got everything dialed in except for the tightbore. Nobody sells a tightbore at 280mm. Can I get a longer one? lets say a 300mm for an m4 and cut it?

Crunchmeister March 17th, 2008 07:33

Yes you can. Look in this thread: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=54850

You'll find advice on what to do and what not to do.

DENZILDON March 17th, 2008 09:30

Thanks again Buddy!!!

Ok, so I have the guarder m120 upgrade kit already. I heard stories that the guarder piston head is not good and is very prone to breaking down after a short period of use.

I read somewhere if I use the original cylinder head this should fix the issue. True or false?

Or should I just get a systema silent piston head to be safe?
