NEED HELP- Last time I rent out my AUG, seriously.

I loaned my AUG to two different friends for a small skirmish- when I got it back, a few days later, I looked in it and saw the plastic plate that held the mechbox forward had broken and slid back, the plastic part was nowhere to be seen, one of the screws was missing and the mechbox was floating freely. Now, it seems stuck a few centimetres back- I can't push it forward any more, and the nozzle isn't going into the hopup properly.

Anyone have any ideas what to do? I've never worked on an AUG before, nor much of anything for that matter. This is a bit of a pissoff.

sorry to hear that... :(
which plastic part is missing?
a picture would be worth a thousand words

Here we go-
One of the screws is missing too.

Nothing's holding the mechbox in place, the plate was the only thing there.

I pushed the mechbox all the way forward, but it doesn't seem to want to do automatic anymore.

Styrak April 29th, 2008 14:20

Ooooh you'll definitely need a new plastic plate since that's what holds the mechbox against the hopup/barrel assembly.

Yea, the only people I let touch my AEG's now are people that own their own and know how to handle them, or people I 100% trust to replace any damaged parts they may break, either accidently or by ignorance. I learned the hard way with my G36 and FA-MAS.

Obviously unhook your battery wires, remove those two screws and any leftover plastic bits, and tap the butt end against your thigh. Since there is now nothing supporting that mechbox it should drop out with a bit of persuasion and you'll be able to see inside the body to check for any further damage. Keep in mind the ejector port covers are attached to the top of the mechbox so they'll slide out along with it...

Send pics if you want confirmation that everything looks ok, but Styrak's right, you'll probably just need a new plastic plate... (WGC? Redwolf?)

Hrm, I see it for $4 on wgc but it says discontinued...

If you ever get this together, please beat your buddies over the head with it

You can make yourself a plate.

Just take a strip of plastic, and for the lost nut, take one from a "Mecano" contruction game. Or go to find one at the harware store.

You will have to remove the mechbox, then replace the inner parts (probably not boken, but the part linking the magwell to the hop-up chamber can slide and move out of place. Same with the bolt cover.

Take your time, I doubth anything is broken aside from the back plate.

Jimski April 29th, 2008 16:07

someone obviously dropped this aug on the ground and didn't tell about it.

it's even probably fallen on the butt, and that's why your internal buttplate is broken.I suggest you check the hop hup, the plastic bits that hold the plastic ring (the one closest to the nozzle) might be broken if it fell on the barrel end.
that would cause air leak.

I also suggest you check the magazine bay inside the body (it should come out when you remove the mechbox), it could also be broken.

yes, I dropped mine like that too, but it was mine...

you can remove the barrel unit before putting the mechbox back, it sometimes help, especially if your hop up unit has moved from the shock.

If I were to rent an AEG I'd require a full deposit of what it'd cost for a replacement.

Than once the AEG is back in my hands and everything is good than the deposit is refunded and you keep whatever you charged.

Sucks to hear man, hope everything works out.

mike909 April 29th, 2008 16:32

every time I lend someone my gun, it has always been broken. That was with the walmart guns ofcourse :D

Bowers April 29th, 2008 16:47

ouch shitty deal man

hope everything gets fixed

Bob posting from a friend's account (don't really feel like logging out/in)-

Thanks guys- will look into it. The part's discontinued, but there's a chance I can buy one from someone in Britain, along with replacements for near-everything.

The gun works in semi-only, unfortunately- I think a BB may have fallen into the trigger mech.

I'll take a look at it when I pick up the AUG- the bag of shit that must've dropped it is claiming he didn't, though no one's touched it in the meantime. If he had enough money to pay a deposit, he definitely could've bought a rifle of his own- unfortunately.

I decided 'fuck this' and bought every single internal part from the AUG stock from a fairly nice chap in Britain, along with a Civilian receiver.

This'll uncomplicate things.

Gun fixed. Bought a replacement rear plate, as soon as it went in all issues magically disappeared.

Thanks a tonne, Zack.
