Help! - Can you identify this Russian Helmet
 

A friend of mine picked this up while he was in Afghanistan. On the front is the remnants of a red star. I've done some googling, and I can't find out specifically what model it is. Any ideas?

Red star....perhaps Chinese?

It resembles the SSH40 model, i'm sure someone will correct me on this though.

I've found more than a few at online surplus stores that were russian with the red star, but interesting nonetheless.

I'm just interested. Some of the models from wwii, that are authentic, go for 3-400 bucks.
