Man that was going to be my question.

make the holster, you need to use a selector switch and an elastic, it wouldn't be as seemlesly smooth as that one, but it would have the same idea.

WARFIGHTER June 29th, 2008 09:44

Blade tech's are supposed to be quite decent. I have never used one myself however so I cannot comment from first hand experience. But they get good reviews from others that have used them. Pretty much as you said, a decent alternative to safariland.

As for making them yourself... You need a kydex press and mould, and a number of other misc. tools. Knyte Tactical, will actually be getting a kydex press and moulds soon for holsters, mag retention, knife sheaths, and other custom work... :) Knifekits.com has the presses, foams, kydex sheets, and other tools, and you can find a lot of info on kydex forming if you, of course, google it.

Um Ya...

attack-beaver June 29th, 2008 15:13

but knyte how much would it cost to get your holster and when would u be pumping them out?

because i have a USP not one of the most common pistols out there.

REXTER June 29th, 2008 15:22

Blade-tech is good shit, but stay away from anything with their "det-lock". It can fail easily. If you want drop leg, go Safariland, best you can buy bar none. For belt or concealment, I like the Raven Concealment products http://ravenconcealment.com/ The best on the market.

I would stay away from BHI and Fobus, nothing but shit.

Personally, I wouldn't bother making anything kydex, for the price, buy from good companies that make holsters for a living and get something with quality.

I lol'ed at Auklin deleting his posts.

attack-beaver June 29th, 2008 16:53

rexter what is the "det-lock' system? did you mean tek-lock?

P.S reason im looking here is i have a USP .45 in my AS and paying off my RS and i want a good holster but safariland being bought out and very high on the price list and i would like to have to use a tactical light but SL wants me to get on top of the 300 holster another 250-300 for a light and rail adapter.

Cost will have to wait till I see how much time it takes etc, but we aren't gonna be 'pumping' them out per-say, were using it for custom case by case basis. The original reason we are getting kydex equipment is to make mag retention inserts, as well as drop leg holster inserts for soft drop leg rigs and other things like that.

That being said, for a drop leg molded pistol holster, I'd expect around 60.00, at this point it will not have any fancy release mechanism unless we could find pre-made systems like that. Hopefully a setscrew tension adjustment. We'll see how it goes.

Ummm, ya, that could be it. Couldn't remember the exact name.

attack-beaver July 1st, 2008 15:00

the off set belt holder?

MadMorbius July 4th, 2008 10:39

It holds your belt? Fuck, I've been looking for a reason to have my hips surgically removed.

EDIT - BTW, I undeleted Auklin's posts to remove plausible deniability of public stupidity. You want to sound off in here, you better know what you're talking about.
