How TM is your TM gun?

I'm trying to gauge how many people regularly game stock or near stock TM guns. People tend to highly recommend TM guns, and there are a lot out there. But I don't seem to often hear of (near) stock TMs or see them for sale in the buy & sell section, at least when it's a more serious playing selling the gun. It seems that active players that use TM guns tend to do a lot of work to them to upgrade them for gaming.

In terms of internals, the obvious first upgrades are the nylon bushings, the spring and often a bearing spring guide. Depending on what people have for springs and their desired setups (high speed / high velocity), often, high torque or high speed gears are installed, or just regular ratio hardened gears. And people with V2 mechboxed often seem to upgrade to reinforced mechboxes, particularly if going for a high velocity setup.

It seems that most people replace the bodies (mostly on Armalites and AKs) with metal bodies. They add wood kits on AKs too. With the metal Armalite bodies usually comes a 1-piece metal hopup. Then there's the inner barrels that are replaced with tightbores, the hopup sleeve is replaced to handle the higher velocities better. And it seems that replacing stocks, grips and front ends is quite a popular option as well.

So for you TM users out there, particularly the more active / hardcore players, exactly how much TM is left on your TM gun?

Hmmm... the trigger assembly?

Crunchmeister July 4th, 2008 20:28

Yeah, that too. I'm just giving some examples here. I want to hear how many people are rocking stock or near-stock TM guns in the field, and if not, what kind of upgrades have been installed and why.

Stock tangs. AND pistol grip screw.

Ahh.. ok. I misunderstood. I thought you were just adding to my list of parts that get replaced. LOL

I used a stock TM G36c for 2 years before selling it. It was a good AEG.
My TM P90tr is also flawless.

With the swarm of cheap TM clone, people thend to forget how good TM AEGs are, depending on the model.

Everything Gen3 and up is worth it's price.

you are using a twist barrel with an M120 spring?

anyways, my TM is sold now, I started with TM m4, upgraded to the death, but then it kinda fell apart because I upgraded it too much, so I just parted it out.

I don't realyl reccomend TMs to noobs anymore, the reason being that after some time, it just won't be a TM anymore anyways.

hattrick July 4th, 2008 20:45

I think when people recommend TM guns they are refering strictly to their line of GBB pistols.....

Donster July 4th, 2008 20:46

Its not a twist barrel. Just a 6.03 590 Tightbore, pretty sure its TK, never knew the brand, but my friend put a TK in his VN which I now own and the barrels are the same, so just assuming.

Cheesevillage July 4th, 2008 20:56

I've run a stock tm mp5a4 for three years.

Hades July 4th, 2008 21:00

My M14 is mostly stock internals, only upgraded spring & bushings. Everything else is stock tm except for the EBR chassis I have on it.

shifty51 July 4th, 2008 21:06

On my AUG I have everything stock except the following
-bushings
-shims (duh)
-spring
-battery connectors
-added battery bag for large batt
-added optics

else wise pretty stock
