"CNC'd" Steel VLTOR F/BUIS. WARNING!

Yeah, so I picked up the Vltor "CNC'D" steel F/BUIS from Huang (awesome service from Huang, btw..) ...and let me tell ya boys... BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK. This piece is quite possibly the worst F/BUIS I've seen in a bit. It's machined really badly, and has some extremely odd quirks. Like... instead of having a gas tube port... it has a screw. There is NO way you can use this with a gas tube.

Other strange things include inconsistencies within the machining process. Such as.... the rings not being the same diameter, and REALLY obvious milling marks.

Function wise.... Uhmm.... it DOES NOT stay still. I tried to see what the issue was, but quickly decided against it, simply because it wasn't worth the time.

Conclusion... Yeah, DON'T BUY. Big "WTF" moment on my part. I should've examined the product more thoroughly, and paid more attention to detail when I was in the store.

The LaRue kit is kinda nice though.... Doesn't fit perfectly on the ptw, but hey, it's worth keeping.

*10 minute sigh*......

Strange, what's the brand? I just picked up a KA and apart from a sometimes limp front post I have no issues with fit or finish.

Have you contacted Huang about this, he is really big on the customer service thing.

Ouch this is unfortunate, building my buddy a gun right now and this was one of the parts he wanted most. Talk to Huang or lets hear Huang voice about this, just hope its a lemon and not all are like this.

Kos speak to u on MSN about that La Rue rail!

Might be a factory second.

Compare it to another one if possible.

When I bought a Cavalvy replica radio headset from Huang it had massive flash from the molding process and broke within one game. I have seen his holosight replicas brake the lens from a 230fps TM MP7 and from being knocked lightly against a door frame. My HurricanE holosight replica has taken 400fps hits without scratching and has been dropped onto concrete and rocks several times, still perfect.

You get what you pay for.

Hells yeah.

(kos' comment)

Buy cheap ,buy twice.

All I know is, the LaRue, AND the Vltor are very misleading bits of kit that will be returned shortly.

.... shoulda known....

Probably no-name chinese made.

Did you see this piece before purchasing? I did and it blew my mind.

Dude you should have consulted with me

I hate to say it but you do get what you pay for. I bought a TASC headset from Huang and the rubber on it actually gave my ear a chemical burn, and no it wasn't an allergic reaction I'm afraid. A friend tried it and he got the exact same reaction(I since bought the DEVGRU Frogman and have had no problems). That's what we get for buying ultra cheap knock off crap I guess, lesson well learned. I also bought a few IR Canadian flags from him and when they got wet in the rain the colours all ran off the flags, cheap cheap crap. I don't blame Huang for it so don't get me wrong but the quality of goods coming out of the Chinese clone factories is garbage or worse.

You're very right, man. I can laugh about it now. Grave, and I were awestruck by the quality when we thoroughly checked the units. Unbelievable how I missed a few things in the store.

I'm happy you told me about that headset though. I hope my IASUS throat mic doesn't eff me over.... chemical burns in the throat would suck alot.

Lon dood! I'm a moron. I should've contacted you.

Well since you already have it, mount it up and take a pic :) Let's see how bad it is on your Systema.

Yeah, sure... I WOULD. But it doesn't fit due to deformed rings..

Also, it doesn't even lock into place when deployed.

mcguyver August 7th, 2008 23:51

Kos, take a pic or two of what it does look like anyways.

Shirley August 8th, 2008 00:03

Huangs store is like a candy shop, too bad people out of Ontario cannot look at it. :(
