Hop Up Problem + Mag feed

Okay, so I bought Huangs Metal body for my SPR project, and a new metal 1 piece hop up because I don't have any other 1 piece hop up.

So, after changing everything 1 hour or so, I get this problem with the mag catch, fixed the problem.

But now, I don't know if this is the right M4/M16 1 piece hop up. The magazine doesn't seem to touch the hop up hole thing. Well it does touch, but no BB's feed through. Which means the mag should be moved up a bit more to fit the hole of the hop up into the mag to release the spring to BBs am I right?

But the hole of the magazine doesn't seem to connect with the hop up.

The magazine I don't even know what name they are, but they are metal with "Adventure Line MFG" engraved on the bottom.

Do I need to buy a new magazine? I never had a problem running these magazines with my other 2 piece hop up.

Here are some pics I took. Wondering if I put it in wrong or some sort..

Do you find if you push on the mag from the back that it feeds? I just installed a dboys body on a gun and had this same issue, mostly the mag catch being gay, tossed out the retarded one that came with and modified the catch from the old TM body. Just have to glue a peice of plastic, metal, whatever on to the end of the mag catch where it engages the mag so that it holds it more solid, I think the dboys bodies are a bit wider there so the catch wont hold the mag solid enough. Worked for me anyways

The mag isn't even TOUCHING the hopup? Wow, that's fucked. Maybe the DBoys body is too shitty?

EDIT: Just looked at my G&P metal body and metal hopup. Sticks out about the same from the upper. Must be your magwell or mag. Or something crazy like the body has shitty QC and the mag catch location is too low.

What brand mag is it?

Shirley August 10th, 2008 12:20

I'm not even sure what brand they are. Probably cheap ones. They say "Adventure Line MFG USA" on the bottom. They're hi-caps. Didn't have much money to spend on new mags, but this was very compatible with mt TM body and 2 piece hop up. Just not sure why it's not touching.

Hmm, I just took out the mag catch, and shoved in the mag, it still doesn't even connect with the hop up.. I took it out and tried to allign it, but then it pushes back because of the geabox and lower reciever pushing in.

Is it possible I got the wrong hop up?

Do I need new mags since I've got a new metal body and hop up?

I'm going to try to hit up a friends and borrow some mags to see if it works.

"Adventure Line MFG" is a REAL mag company:

Quote:

Adventure Line was one of the early magazine contractors, making both 20 and 30-round magazines. Adventure Line was aquired by Parsons, and eventually by Center. Adventure Line mags had gold-colored anodizing, black followers, and have especially long-lasting moly finish. Made from late 1960s-early 1970s. Floorplates stamped:
ADVENTURE LINE MFG. CO.
PARSONS, KS. U.S.A.

I dont mean to go off topic but... My hopup doesn't have that spring and instead three washer type things where the barrel goes into the hopup.... I wonder why....

I don't think there should be that much of a gap between the upper and lower receiver...

Shirley August 10th, 2008 12:40

Hmm really, probably the previous owner of these mags changed the insides or some sort.

Well nothing is working at the moment, the male of the hop up won't go into the female of the mag top.

Thats usual at your age :D Sorry....

I have heard that Dboys metal bodies require usually some sort of modifications (IE grinding) for things to fit properly. Does the body fit together fine with the gearbox and hopup inside?

Yessir, everything fits in very well. But the fake bolt plate thing I cannot fit in, so I threw that away, anyways, everything does fit, the problem is just the hop up. I don't know if it's the right one?

This is pure headache with me. Everytime I get something new, it fails on me. Argh.

Even when I take out the mag catch, shove in the mag to see if it alligns, and it touches but the neck of the hop up doesn't even stick in the mag...

Here are pics of how it doesn't come fully in..

I just noticed that my G&P midcap has on the bottom:

Adventure Line MFG Co. INC.
PARSONS KS. USA

Same one as mine.

Unless some clone manufacturer starting making the hop-up wheels in white plastic, then that hop-up unit is a Systema and is one of the best you can buy (so that shouldn't be the problem). Systema doesn't make any other hop-ups so that's the one for your M4/M16.

If the mag goes in fine with the upper receiver/hop-up removed then you know there's a problem with one of those parts interfering with the mag.

I would start by taking the upper receiver off, put the hop-up on the gearbox, and shove the mag in. Pay attention to what part of the hop-up isn't lining up correctly, or what piece of metal the mag is catching on. Pictures would also be good so we can help diagnose the problem.

ILLusion August 11th, 2008 10:02

It looks like the problem is with the upper receiver, as the mag can't line up, even when mag catch and hop up unit is in place.

Some material is creating a blockage and it needs to be machined/dremeled off.
