any takes on aluminum gbb's?
 

id like somone to share some experience with them sound and feel

My nicest GBB is a non-metal Tanio Koba USP tactical. It's got great kick and feel.

My daily driver is a TM P226. It was all stock and fine and then recently up'd to a metal kit (frame barrel slide) and about the only thought that really comes up whenever I grab it is "wow this thing is now to heavy to haul around"!

Depends what gun.

My USP has a metal slide that's lighter than the stock plastic one :)

Don't go with cheap upgrade kits and changing to a metal slide will IMPROVE your performance.

As a rule I think the best route for most is to lurk in the classifieds like a trap door spider and when one comes up that's already had the work done to snap it up.

Pistols I've bought used here have worked very well for me. A couple new ones I got from retailers were a bit meh.

Kinda a lazy question... if you have a preferred gun
in mind then it's a little Google leg work to find some
reviews of the available metal kits.

There are a few different companies making alu kits,
in my opinion Guarder cast aluminum ones always
seem to be very poor by comparison to PGC, Prime,
ProWin, Sheriff, Nova etc. Fragile, need moding of
original parts, possible filing of the kit itself and
untapped screw holes. If you go metal, get a quality
CNC'd alu slide, and frame if available.

That being said, sometimes the gun can be become
a gas hog and not preform the way it was in stock
form. It can be frustrating to balance the extra kick,
gas consumption and overall performance. So I know
a few people who have sold off metal kits, to get
back the original crisp play. Those were Guarder kits
taken off TM guns, and returned to stock.

yep form my knollege my kjw is made out of pot metal and i love it also my old gbbs that were metal were heveyer but were awesome feel and sound. worth buying the preupgraded/ allredy metal ones out of the box saves for headaces for fitting.

Seen the PGC 1911 kits in person.... Unbelievable.... :(

I wish I had 900$ to drop on a sidearm...
